I have incorporated into my Antec case (NSK2480-EC) two hard drives from Samsung. A 350GB which is not cooled, and a 1TB, which is cooled by the Ita Kaze Scit-1000. The temperature difference amounts to about 5-10 °. Since my case is already quite well-ventilated, the master drive (350GB) is about 38 ° warm while the slave disk (1TB), which is constantly active, 32-30 ° warm. For this purpose it should be mentioned that in my case blows the fan against a 3cm away housing wall and below the exhaust area and slightly offset from the hard disk is (it is a horizontally-lying housing, similar to a large DVD player). The hard drives are namely not horizontally in the housing, but are turned sideways and vertically.
The fan runs really quiet and not drowned out the rest of AMD processor-fan. The case fans (2x 120mm TriCoolELEter) are louder than the Scythe, and I feel this already as a relatively quiet at the highest level.
All in a good and quiet cooling performance at a fair price.
Negatives:
A staple of the disk drive sled I had to remove because the cooler was a bit too thick. But as he fortunately not occupied the entire disk surface, but about 3-5cm leaves free, I could leave a clamp on it. This problem should not exist in upright cabinets. The cooler also has no regulation stages.
Pro:
- Good cooling performance
- Very quiet
- Quicker installation (manual is not even necessary)
- Well made
Cons:
- No fan control
- Could make during installation due to the dimensions of the cooling fins some problems with special housings
