Good, but useless with W-Lan in the house

We have recently acquired this baby monitor, as our old Philips AVENT was posted without video with battery operation for repair. Would this then be used as a second appliance or for the intended offspring. Device does what it says, from the screen forth good resolution. However, it has two major shortcomings which you should consider before buying:

1) The battery operation

We put our daughter (2.5) out in our bed. Later we store them into her bed in the room. Here we use the advantage titled as battery operation during power failure. The cable for the baby monitor is installed in the children's room behind the cabinet, so that the dismantling would always be a problem. We bought this battery. After about 30 minutes the batteries are empty. In between, the connection breaks off again, because I think the camera takes too much power. Thus, one would need a second AC adapter, otherwise unprofitable appears to use batteries.

1) W-Lan in the house

Personally, I would not have thought possible and had to try several times. Found the phenomenon really strange.
