The criticized in other reviews noise occurs mainly in full automatic mode, the admittedly is not much good, because this tends to set high ISO values. To the camera needs to produce good images be set via "Menu-Rec-sensitivity" the ISO value manually, so the setting "i ISO" is the automatic mode, the as I said does not work well. For less noise ISO 100 is the correct value, which however needs enough light. In conjunction with the flash in the interior can also adjust ISO 200. With plenty of light (sunshine) you take ISO 100, ISO 200 and in cloudy atmosphere in the shade or twilight ISO 400. ISO 800 is possibly still in freehand using the 250mm focal length to use, but because the noise is already quite strong.
With the very good working image stabilizer stable images are also free hand possible with telephoto.
The color reproduction is very realistic and neutral.
The memory requirements of the image files is very high, because the compression ratio of the JPG files is apparently fixed at "fine". With other cameras you can change that.
However, it is not necessary always to choose the high resolution 16 megapixels. One hardly sees in the photos is a difference between 5, 10 or 16 megapixels, even if you look at this on a 24-inch monitor.
A photo with 16 megapixels of this camera requires approximately 6MB memory, a 5 megapixel image takes about 3MB memory and you can see the difference only at a magnification of 500%. Try it out!
And finally the battery life, which is modest but adequate. There is the original battery cheap to buy as a backup, what I will do.
Overall, I am very happy with this camera and I still have some other, but all are heavier and were more expensive. The best camera is always the one that you have this ;-)
