Here's a little hint:
Initially attached hard drives (Samsung, Hitachi) could not persuade the diagnoses by SMART to carry out.
Once I mitgebe the "-d sat" option, it works flawlessly. Apparently, a controller is installed as a bridge, the smartmontools not recognize.
