Caveat: This is a review of the models

SONY KDL46EX505 and
SONY KDL46EX715 because I have all 3 models ordered to choose until I finally decided on the latter.
I wanted to 3 years now also a larger "TV Treat (formerly Panasonic plasma 37THX model, HD ready, 100Hz) and also go into the HD world (here also, therefore, the purchase of a new HD receiver would become necessary ., since only use a normal digital receiver) In addition, I wanted the future to be (Internet, div Other connectors) Here is a more detailed report (as I've read quite a lot of customers recessions before I ordered -.. thank you to all those who this taking the time to write such - this helped me in my opinion finding / training):
So my criteria:
- 100HZ
- The lowest possible power consumption
- Integrated as possible S-HD tuner
- As many connections (for the future ")
- Good picture in normal digital broadcasts
- Planned budget 700-800 (. However, just for the pure TV set without integrated tuner)
My usage habits:
- 95% TV via Digital / Satellite (documentaries, news, sports and movies)
- 5% DVD
- Not have a Playstation, Wii, computer game use, etc ....

The choice fell after weighing my criteria, research on the internet u. Of the overall impression in various electronics stores on the Sony KDL 46EX705AEP. Actually, I was first interested in the Samsung 46C650 which a friend had risen. This convinced me there but the image and the viewing angle is not really -. But is a matter of taste). My wife was 46 "in the preliminary discussion on large (would rather have a smaller 40/42" -er if indeed must be a new already!). I did ultimately overruled u simply the 46-he ordered from Amazon Warehouse deal for 933 for viewing (after seeing the good part of me in a Euronics Specialists -. Have also going round looked to SD image quality exactly - there the unit was the way for proud 1399 available!). The image of Sony equipment I liked the way compared to all the other devices / manufacturers, which were exhibited in this price range generally always best - why the decision regarding brand Sony "was for me ever laid.
First, the negative from my perspective things to KDL 46EX705 (which for me a no-go "were, after I have the device now ordered now the 2nd time and tested.):
- Medium loud pops of the frame / panel are unfortunately a regular basis (at peak times even 1-3 times per minute), sometimes more, sometimes less. Until the unit has warmed up properly "is (so about 1 hour), then you hear nothing during the operation. After switching on the other hand goes then also during cooling so on ... Well, it would be tolerable since not too loud, but annoy me such things unfortunately extremst u. take me the joy of picture / program / movie. Would the crate through the whole day, so it would EVLT. tolerable. But for this price range (or in this manufacturer), I expect that Such a design-related problems non-existent. The replacement unit had exactly the same problem!
- Dark scenes: here was the first device light but acceptable Clouding in the corners. The replacement device showed strong Clouding and significant weaknesses in the gradations of dark shades in movements (black / gray, blue / lia / black) during normal digital picture, it partially creates a kind of stairs / blocky look at the edges; . u in the HD programs to many digital, this effect is not present - it seems a lot of u with the respective films to have to do their quality.
- For Clouding: This I was able to adjust by reducing the picture backlight to a manageable level - this would not in my view have been the KO criterion, I do not want it but deny (especially the replacement unit). And this as you can read in div. Forums, probably a general problem with LED backlight technology is (and probably for all manufacturers). By loosening the housing screws on the back of this problem has not be improved, as has been proposed in some forum ....
Now for the good things, but moved into the background because of the above-mentioned points with me:
- Picture in general. Excellent - u in public HD channels also normal DVD has almost 3D Feeling! The other satellite programs are also better than expected from the picture! Find the default settings all right - but there is certainly but more with individual fine tuning. For me important: sports, especially football. Here the picture is awesome - no jerking / tightening, super colors - so it should be.
- Sound: good! At first tinny than on the Panasonic Plasma (but also clear / clear ", but also personal taste, the bass are holding forth not as much as the old plasma. In addition, you get used to fast on the still brighter" sound.
- Operation:. Intuitive and self-explanatory, remote I find ok, (not even with the directional pad) have despite my sausage fingers no problem. Switchover of integr. Receiver is not slower than my old digital satellite receiver, about 1-2 seconds. When zapping you need some patience, but I was also accustomed's previously so.
- Design: makes compared to the old box right thing therefore.
- General for diagonal / Size: as the good part was 3 days, I heard from my treasure the phrase: the TV does not get any bigger move, the 37 "- which is really not too big"! So for me the size of the screen size was when installing clear that 46 "is the right place for my taste More than 4 m I would definitely tends to next larger model ... all because of the distance and the doubt:. Better order larger size if you are not sure (if it fits into the budget)!
- Also positive: integrated program guide with reminder - indeed need ne time until it has built up for the first time, but for me very useful because the old equipment does not exist! To quickly get an overview Super, what when where running - the program / program can be jumped to directly from this!
- I have not tested (Internet, USB, other media / terminals) Other functions.
- Shipping:. The first device on Saturday evening ordered and Wednesdays it by air mail (HES) delivered - I find absolutely fast and reliable.. Colleagues of HES have reported Tue morning tel. For appointment. The replacement took place just as reliable. Rescission was incidentally the first device without problems forwarder was every time HES, delivery time 4 days, which I find quite fast - the withdrawal confirmation is pending from the 2nd unit.
Since me the replacement device has even less convinced, I have now the KDL46EX505 u. Later ordered the KDL46EX715 to choose from.
Update 23/03/2011:
The KDL46EX505 has now arrived via DHL - here I could after nearly 2-wöchtigem test so far discovered no negative experiences such as cracking, lighting problems etc.. Only negatives "so far:
- The but compared to the LED higher specified power consumption at the same settings as compared to the LED's (brilliant / standard - of course, I can also the LCD EX505 energy saving (it operate), but then suffers in my opinion the image brilliance clear).
- The image of the LEDs I felt personally brilliant, rich, just a little bit better and here had the impression in the middle instead of just being there 'but is no less than my subjective feeling this I have to say that I each just the same settings..! have compared (Brillant / Standard LCD => Brillant / Standard LED). For this reason, then also had to the comparison with the EX715 ago in the hope that there is no crack appears, so I have to also ordered.
- Design the EX505 front also high, back is very Globig u with cheap plastic frame / canopy (but is only appearance, the rear side you can see eh never).
- To be fair, I will say that, compared to the LEDs that blacks are better (especially the illumination is more even - no clouding)
- However, we have seen in both technologies (LCD / LED) in case of non - HD - channels a Grieseln due to the full-HD resolution - but it is how it is. This was logically better on my HD-ready plasma.
The EX505 I can but fully recommend (especially as the price in my opinion is ok -.. (New 900 at the moment) affixed by me criticisms are subjective perception and disturb other customers certainly not just sprint the fly in the ointment ;-). I hope that the KDL EX715 me now possible to 100% convinced that I'm getting already looked at critically by my wife (she had already retained the 1st EX705, because you did not bother to crack).
Update 24/03/2011:
The KDL EX715 has now also arrived via DHL (new purchases of Technikbilliger.de on Amazon). So far, in contrast to the originally favored EX705 strikes me:
- Price (1017) is a good 150 under the new price of the KDL EX705 despite the newer model is the time the order ?!
- Sound: super! Completely ok, Bass not by design the strongest, but got as already mentioned a Kenwood stereo with 2 good pit hang in Football / movies I turn them off and on to if I need more bass.
-. Installation as the EX705 and EX505 a breeze
- Menu settings and self-explanatory.
- No cracking of the framework to date
- Brilliant picture so far, so it should be! Note 1! In my opinion, better than the EX505!
- Power consumption: lt Sony is the setting at home 85W.. I measured it with a meter: At first 90W has, but then leveled off at 70W (In the setting brilliant)! A very good value for this size, I think (especially since you have to factor in savings for the external satellite receiver with)
- Slight clouding / brighter illumination in the 4 corners, wenns so is, I can live with it, do not bother me. It falls only for very dark scenes (in a dark room). In operation in daylight not an issue. If you want to find something negative in LED backlight in this respect, you will probably recognize always something brighter corners. Of course, this does not fall on the presentation room of an electric market!
- Stylish design, it is narrow and slim.! Moreover chic Aluzierleiste front. Looks even valent compared to Ex705 / 505!
- If here now not a serious shortcoming longer appear (am now possibly become critical) I hereby found my ideal device and will hopefully have a long pleasure, but also a little more than planned for this lay on the table.. Otherwise, I'll post it.
