+ Operation via the touch screen works perfectly, quickly, and is very comfortable.
+ The operation is possible even with gloves
+ Housing is waterproof to IPX7 (60 IPX6)
+ The unit fits comfortably in your hand and makes a very solid impression.
+ The functions are clearly arranged and can be operated intuitively.
+ The map display pleases me much better compared to the 60CSx.
+ Card structure is running very fast and you can move the map with your finger easy.
+ Descriptions geocaches can be copied directly to your device
+ Runs 8GB SanDisk microSD (official figure 4GB) - so plenty of room for maps, caches and spoiler pictures
+ Preinstalled topo map of most of Europe. Logically, not as detailed as the detailed maps available as an option, but perfectly adequate for use in the holiday for me. But you should inform accurately whether a sufficient the 300 (no preloaded Topo).
o The often criticized display I do not as bad as it is often done in outdoor use. But you have to accept the fact that you have to turn on the Dispalybeleuchtung (but is in a PDA or smartphone with touchscreen and so). Term test at 100% permanent backlight 1 yr old Eneloop batteries: After 9 hours "battery low" came. After another 45 minutes, the device went off then.
- The German translation is sometimes only cruel. One has the impression that Garmin has just run the text through a "stupid" translation machine. (Ex. ON / OFF has been translated with ON / OFF, a motorway (Engl. Ramp) was once just translated as "ramp"). Fortunately since the users have created from Naviboard Remedy and created a really good translation! But this work, I would have expected from Garmin!
- The Garmin attaches no software (MapSource) and this is only offering to purchase hard to galuben a nearly 500 euros expensive equipment. Of course, the software is available as an option at this card, but just the 400T with integrated topo map that is not natural for me.
- Some Geocaching functions are not fully developed yet. The image viewer is indeed a nice feature, but brings me little if I can not brigen with a cache connected the image. Least an indication of the file name or by selecting folders / file names on the card if it were very helpful. So man must again rely on solutions from other users recourse (SpoilerPrepare) in order to use this feature reasonably sensible can.
Conclusion:
My "old" 60CSx is undoubtedly a very good (mature) device with first-class receiver, with which I was very pleased. So I was a bit skeptical before the changeover. Nevertheless, I have dared to switch and I'm really excited about the new device. The handling via touch screen and geocaching features are exactly what I have been looking for. Sure there are the unit still room for improvement (especially for the area Geocaching), but that's been implemented really useful for me and it is a pleasure with this unit to "work" and men need indeed from time to time a new toy. ;-)
