Now it gets interesting, because I ordered the Seagate 500GB Wireless wireless external portable hard drive, black (STDC500205).
This device has been available since the end of January 2015 and allows wireless data transfer with several I-Pads, Noteboks, computer and perhaps cameras and television via WiFi and Blutooth without Internet. A USB cable is attending and also a battery charger for the built-in battery. Seagate and the user, they report already own that you can run data transfers with multiple devices at the same time even, but recommend only 2 depending on the quality level of movies or files when time is scarce.
Are on the USB3 cable connection 5GB / s are transferred (that is, the transfer rate of the already offered in Sept. 2014 Wireless Plus 1TB).
Of this I expect an enormous expansion of the possibilities of Acer Aconia Tab 10th
The Seagate Wireless is around 125 Euro at Amazon costs, there is also Seagate since September 2014 with larger 1TB RD. 166 euros, it is Seagate Wireless Plus, but I think that 500GB is enough.
A lot of information about it does not yet exist. The commercials Seagate can save and also the videos of individuals who only provide a roller or unboxing on their YouTube channel.
But there are some informative videos which the older model with 1 TB is and how it operates. Here those who I have found:
- Seagate Wireless Plus 1 TB Hard Drive Hands on Review of Eli, The Computer Guy (8 minutes) and
- How to use Seagate Wireless Plus Helen Kheng (10 minutes)
both on english.
- Seagate Media | Getting Started tutorial of Askseagate (6 minutes, also in English) explains how to use the app Seagate Media and how to connect the wireless hard drive with the tablet via WIFI.
The hard drive also has an IP address (172 ...) and you can take the browser (Morzilla, Explorer, Chrome, etc.) rely on their library and play movies, etc. in a variety of formats.
It is also an app called Seagate Media, which you can download from its App Store. So you can upload or download between tablet and hard drive and really is all in the network or integrated.
Helen Kheng leads the front with a Samsung tablet. That might not otherwise go with the Acer Aconia and the Seagate 500GB.
That was it for today, I'll get back when I get the Seagate, have the connection with the Aconia installed and gained experience.
There are other wireless harddrives of Canvio, Corsair, Kingston, Maxell, Samsung, Western Digital ...
----------------------------------------
Nearly 250 Euro incl. Shipping for a WiFi tablet with Full HD screen, 1.3GHz quad processor, 2/32 GB, SD card slot, Mini-USB, 2 speakers, Dolby sound, HDMI , micro SD card, mini-USB and much more ... There is m. E. is currently nothing like it!
Just pay attention when ordering already because there are saving versions with half as much memory and half a display resolution of 229 Euros and of course it is worth spending the 20 euros more for the full equipment.
So much (or as little) money you have already for a 2 year old or used iPad with half the memory (not expandable), only 1 speaker and half HD resolution.
Apps however, there is not as many as for the iPad. In any case, one must currently set for a similar tray between 330-500 euros on the table. Although one gets u. U. lot more on offer such as water resistance or an aluminum housing as well as u. U. a little less.
Now I have to do at this point some important comments about the different versions of this unit, even if some are bored here:
According to Amazon product is model number NT.L5FEE.003 which is not listed on the homepage of Acer.de. The special features of this model are compared to the others (NT.L5EEE.004, NT.L5CEE.003, NT.L5GEE.004 and NT.L5DEE.003) 2GB memory and Full HD.
The above-mentioned models on the Acer website only WXGA (1280x800) and usually only 1GB of RAM. Only the NT.L5EEE.004 has 4GB, but 16GB of flash memory instead of 32 GB. So it is somewhat obscure, but it is enough if the reader maintains that the Amazon version with Full HD (1920x1200), 2GB of memory and 32GB of flash memory is the better or offering the Ami say as: Best value for the Money.
Please keep that in mind when you compare prices, because there is not anywhere apples but also pears. and under the name Iconia A3-A20 are a good half-dozen different devices.
The flash memory question I think is secondary because the unit has a slot, the SD card can swallow and have few trays.
Personally, I have a 64 GB SD card for approx. 50 Euro reingeschoben problems, which is also displayed and will soon be a wireless hard drive purchase (see supplement). The main memory is but essentiel, because here can subsequently change anything.
INSTALLATION
First, the tablet must be charged at least 4 hours.
After switching the language (German Germany) must be selected and the time can be set (factory default DST).
Then the tablet studied the WLAN and quickly find everything is in the same area.
After entering the password of the wireless network the device visits a page [...]
I recommend to make the password visible to check the entry. In an incorrect entry helps restart.
Basically a lot of Google software is preinstalled and the device forces to open a Google account.
For the installation, you should estimate 15-30 minutes.
Angrily I find the omnipresence of Google, which takes liberties, such as self-employed phone calls, photos in the cloud save etc. Obama and the NSA ruled!
PICTURE AND SOUND, FEATURES
Although this is a low-cost tablet would not skimp on image and sound. The screen is super sharp, very bright and contrasty and 2 speakers for stereo sound in Dolby quality. It was already saved here and there, but not there where it hurts: for example there is no consuming milled from a block housing, special lot (good) plastic, no flash for the camera, not infrared ...
But GPS, compass, Kopfhöhrer- / speaker connector (standard 3.5mm jack), 2 microphones, Micro HDMI output, Micro-SD card slot, mini USB, light sensor ... and as I said display and sound system of the superclass ,
In the end, because where it matters everything is just there and I think that's just great!.
The speakers are located at the rear left and right and therefore radiate to the back. An extensive Equalizer is available in the Dolby-app and Sound Presets (movies, music, games, language). The volume is absolutely OK and loose enough for individual use, and for hard of hearing. The sound is of course quite blechend. Who wants to have it better, can not get to the connection of headphones. A loudspeaker as the EasyAcc Energy Cube is much quieter than the iPad with a cable connection.
The Blutooth pairing incidentally funktionnierte not (message: Pairing with EasyACC has not been possible because the code entered is incorrect). But that is not the speaker, because it runs properly with the iPad.
The sound with different earphones and headphones from Bose, Sony and Sennheiser was urspunglich quiet and dull. That changed after I raised in Dolby frequencies.
The preamplifier of the tablet delivers a very good sound.
As I said, the screen is an absolute highlight, because of its resolution, its sensitivity, contrast, etc. as well as fingerprints left much less traces as eg the iPad. 2
CAMERAS AND MICROPHONE
Front 2MP, rear 5 MP. The camera is enough for documentation purposes. Since I personally z. B a Sony RX100 III or A7R use, I can tablets- or smartphone cameras attune no praise song, but there are many people who do not have special requirements and thus be happy. Honestly, the camera is not a highlight, the colors are not really true, but photos and videos are in good light quite OK, the videos are a little bluish.
So very clear: Those who want to take good pictures and videos should be anyway a good compact afford from 300 euros. I would highly recommend as the Nion P340 or the Olympus Stylus 1. Even better - and more expensive it will be with a Lumix LX7 LX100 or a Canon G7x ... but that is a temporary solution Aconia plus bulky.
SOFTWARE and APPS
Operating System: Android 4.4. These 55 pre-installed apps, including Skype, for example, Evernote, Mc Affee, Photo, Weather, play movies, playbooks, navigation, maps, cloud, YouTube, Google Chrome etc. and of course, camera, File Manager, Settings ...
That's enough to start with.
Google Maps and GPS function properly and very fast, so that the tablet is a full-fledged Navi, without WLAN, and without calling card.
With the hot screen, of course, a top solution.
The tray has a back button and a Home button. Do we not, just press it and the world is again OK
You can also encrypt the tray.
The data can also be backed up to Google servers automatically and restore function is also available.
USE AND PERFORMANCE
Decisive for the performance are the MediaTek MT8127 quad-core 1.30 GHz and 2 GB of RAM. The battery has 4700 mAh and lasts for approx. 7-8 hours of continuous operation with a bright screen and a loud sound, but depending on the strain. Students at the university or employees working in the field should therefore throughout the day (08: 00-17:. 00 ABZ lunch break) just good go.
Of course I had no time to test everything, but what I've tried running smoothly and the reception of my wireless network is as good as the iPad (another floor + 10m no problem with Fritz box).
What bothers me a bit is that the tablet quickly put into Standby, also during a download and I could find so far no adjustment for this. A revival is, however, without problems.
In games with relatively simple 3D graphics, for example, car racing (asphalt 8), there are no problems. However, compared to expensive PC games are relatively primitive applications.
The screen is not good anti-reflective treatment. In the interior, when the display is lit, the OK, but I can well imagine that there there's trouble at outdoor usage when the sun shines. Otherwise the luminosity is uniform and perfectly adequate. The display is very sensitive to every touch, faster than my iPad 2 and changes the position (horizontal / vertical) without much hesitation.
At this point is also worth mentioning that the screen has a special coating and much less fingerprints collected than comparable devices.
What I still miss is a BT keyboard like the Logitec UltraThin that turns my iPad into a laptop. But there will certainly be plenty of accessories soon, because this tablet has the makings of a popular device.
If something should discover important, I'll add a supplement, but that's it for now.
CONCLUSION
The Acer Iconia 10.1 inches 32GB Full HD in the Amazon version (WiFi) just before Christmas 2014 m. E. Acer a great Schachtzug succeeded, because the facilities are top class and the price is economy class. The tablet is good everywhere and I feel only the intrusive Google software as disturbing.
In order to assess:
The device offers a lot, has hardly any weaknesses and is half as expensive as most of its competitors, that's all you need.
I I think that 5 stars are justified.
