Picture and sound quality
---------------------
Although this model "only" 200 Hz provides, can the 4508 certainly compete with other models from the 7000/8000 series that I could examine the friends and acquaintances. The television offers Pixel Plus HD, Perfect Motion Rate, but other gimmicks on image enhancement or Helligkeitssenser missing in contrast to the "bigger" models. In the enjoyment of 3D to get only an additional spectacle that is not supplied. It is recommended that the 3D glasses Philips PTA518 or PTA508 Philips, it also works seamlessly with the PTA507 with which I tested. The result is truly stunning 3D, so far I only had experience with the Real 3D technology passive but the active shutter variant seems a trace to be better, flickering I could not perceive.
Overall, I could not detect any flaws so far in terms of image quality, consistently a very sharp and high-contrast image with no streaks or clouding (as I've seen it already in a model from the 7000 series). The sound is OK, but the built-in 20 watt speakers can be expected no fireworks. For the bedroom in order, in the living room makes a home theater system but a lot of sense!
Features:
------------
3x HDMI (one side), RJ45 LAN, 1x Component, 1x antenna 1x SAT, 1x SCART, 1x Audio In (3.5mm), 1x Audio Out (Coaxial), 2x USB (side) 1x headphone (side) and CI + interface (sideways). The first HDMI input also dominates ARC (Audio Return Channel for AV receivers). My USB 3.0 key has been detected without any problems and can be used for TV recordings, it can also be 2.5 "hard drives or 3.5" hard drives can be used with an external power supply. The memory is formatted it and can no longer be read by the PC. Power consumption for a TV in size small (A +) and depending on the source, usually in the range between 50 and 60 watts. The 8-day EPG (Electronic Programme Guide) can optionally be obtained from the TV signal or from the network. Firmware updates must be searched manually, unfortunately, there is no automatic notification.
Other features
----------------
Tied to the Internet, the TV offers a number of other options (Smart TV, Social TV, Sykpe) via DLNA can be accessed on a media server in your home network, HbbTV, EPG and so on. I regularly use the YouTube app, unlike my Philips BluRay player, the videos are played in HD here, the Q-Tom Music Video app runs every now and then. The rest of the apps (several TV stations, video stores, weather, movie and audio apps) I do not use. I access by DLNA to my Synology NAS and watch from there videos or show photos. Most formats, whether AVI, MPG, MKV, MP4 or MOV play without a problem, with only a few audio formats (eg, DTS), the TV difficulties. Even 3D MKVs (both side by side and top / bottom) are played smoothly.
Why not 5 stars?
---------------------
Especially when you realize the speed difference from the larger series, there is a dual-core CPU is working, here apparently not. Navigating in the Smart TV field, start apps, reaction to the remote control buttons, everything was a bit lame. Recording on a USB memory works, but it can be watched parallel no other station, not to be compared therefore with an external DVD recorder. Furthermore, the USB memory is formatted in a specific format and can no longer be used on the PC, ergo let the shots look even on television, not further processed on the PC. If the TV a long time isolated from the mains, so he forgets that he was already connected to a wireless network and must be reconnected, the password remains stored.
In sum definitely a good LED Smart TV with little weaknesses, value is OK, image quality is very good! 4 stars
