My interest was for the purchase of a tablet
1st reading eBooks and downgeloadeten books and articles in PDF format
2. presentation of photos with family and friends
3. Internet browsing (exclusively at home, so over WLAN) to quickly find the information arising from issues by reading books (Scientific books)
Games come for me personally not in question and also the built-in camera is not very important for me (the cameras anyway almost never a good resolution). With a friend I once had the opportunity to test their Kindle white paper. This does have a great picture by the excellent white background and the relative glare-free observation, but comes for me definitely not in question, because the purebred eBook reader for my needs simply too small. Looking for the right for me screen format, the 7-inch device had already done it, of course. 10-inch devices to read too big and too heavy, so only the 8-inch version came into question.
As I lay on Hightec-frills no values, and for my first Tablet not want to spend so much money, I looked around exclusively in the Low Cost area and set myself a limit of 150 euros. And I came across the Odys Titan that I had liked the most (after graduation reviews of many) of all comparison devices.
I had created me this a Compare: I compared the titanium
* Archos 80 Titanium HD
* TrekStor SurfTab Ventos 8.0
* Blaupunkt Endeavour 800
* CMX Aquila MID 080-1008
* Acer Iconia A810 (which, however 8 GB version was 165 euros a bit over my budget)
After nearly two months of use I can say the following.
Positive struck me particularly:
* Machine is equipped with 9.5 mm pleasantly thin and the 480 grams of weight can be even keep reading quite well
* The display has a good focus and the touch screen responds relatively accurate and precise in my opinion
* The battery lasts for my above application range about 2 days
* Wi-Fi works well. Our router is on the first floor and I use the internet almost exclusively on the ground floor. However, we have a half-timbered house, so there is no concrete floor. Only to install apps I go right next to the router in order to ensure the best reception
* The operating system JellyBean (Android 4.1) I get along well, and the tablet is me once crashed. Those who are familiar with a PC, like me, who will have no difficulty with the intuitive user interface of Android. You can learn very quickly. Use the Titan now almost daily
* There are not too many preinstalled apps, so that protects before the internal memory.
Negatives for me there is really nothing. This is probably also the fact that the existing technology for the chosen functionalities me and my range of applications is quite sufficient. Funny, I find, however, that the titanium on the website Odys date does not appear.
It is advisable to install an additional external Micro SD card. I've bought an 8GB card (perfectly adequate for me). The data transfer from your laptop via the included mini-USB cable is running very smoothly.
Use of the internet is a bit strange at first, especially if your eyes ever need a visual aid in the mature age (like me). But the screen can be enlarged easily by spreading your thumb and forefinger.
With the Tablet I immediately also a custom-fit protective cover purchases (Supremery sleeve for Odys Titan). Even so I'm satisfied (see separate review).
To my review in points: I am completely satisfied with this device so far and therefore it can for users who want to use a tablet like me, highly recommend! The service of Odys I did not even consult previously, so I can instruct you with nothing. A comparison with high-end equipment makes in my view makes no sense and therefore does not lead me to a devaluation. For this reason I give a full five points.
Maybe one more tip toward app for reading eBooks: The Titan Although the Aldiko reader is installed (a really good reader with everything you could need), but the functionality of the Moon + Reader Aldiko does not come close. With two readers can be both the main eBook formats (ePub etc.) as well as PDF files read. Meanwhile I create eBooks in ePub format on the software caliber on the laptop itself.
I hope that this brief outline is somewhat helpful and may contribute to the decision.
