Good first impression, but still expandable!

I have as a basic unit a Samsung UE46F8090 from the year 2013. Therefore, only a generation leap for me further. Placing and installing the Evo kit went with me without problems and was a few minutes to set up ready. The latest software update already included.

The revised user interface like it overall very good. Compared to the 2013er this has been rather revised in detail, a familiarization time I did not need, therefore. The ads appear now even more modern and the size of the fonts has increased slightly, in favor of the new UHD models. This makes the work a little sharper.

When you press the Smart Hub button now opens first a menu at the bottom of Quick Icons and immediately the whole application. Personally, I find that helpful, others may see this as something awkward. The Smart Hub itself has also received a light, optical facelift, but no fundamental changes. This I find, however, well.

A new addition is the "football mode". This adjusts the picture and sound according to a football match at the top. In addition, this takes on a connected hard drive not only the game on optional, but even takes some highlights of the game on their own. This feature really like it a lot and will be a great feature, especially for the upcoming World Cup now.

Cool is the new multi-tasking! You can connect two applications to use side by side, even two different TV channels you can run side by side. In Bundesliga broadcasts so you can say for example watch two games at once.

The included remote control pointer sits perfectly in your hand and the buttons can be used well. The value, however, is not good because it is made entirely of plastic. But the real sense, namely the use of the pointer (via Bluetooth), is more bad than good, because it is too cumbersome to operate it. Here Samsung may need to simplify the interface a bit, when the pointer is detected. It occurs, for every day that you accidentally select the wrong option, because the Pointer mucking at once. Whether one can exhibit this option, I'll check next. I personally do not need this.

Improved speed of the system, I can not tell with me so far, but my F8090er model but also have been generally pretty damn fix the road. Some versions take even longer, for example, calling up my external hard drive to play recordings. Here is already another small negative point: The sort is now from newest to oldest (previously Old to New). This has the disadvantage that when a continuous recording of the same channel, can now no point in running the recordings as they are chronologically sorted in the wrong direction in the system. The options can not change the past.

The revised Voice Control I tested only briefly. Has worked as far, but this is just too often aroused. "Hi TV" is actually set to start the voice control. Unfortunately, this opened but permanent in some completely different sets, if you would like to chat in the room. Since this but probably learns, this can improve of course. I use but generally these things not. Neither the camera. Therefore, I can not say much at the moment.

Also the power consumption is not to be underestimated. Whopping 160 watts consumed my TV in combination with the kit now. Since coming throughout the year saw a considerable sum at out. A strong heat development I can not confirm, however, and my sound system continues to work perfectly with the TV together.

Conclusion:
After my first days with the new Evolution Kit I am the first impression her satisfied so far. Why do I then "only" 3 stars? Because around 240 are simply too expensive for the value, which I have so far. There are also a high power consumption and the usual childhood illnesses. Should Samsung rectify here with updates yet, I will of course adjust the review yet. Even more stuff I'll try even further.
