Good game, but not a Resident Evil

Resident Evil 5 [Platinum] (Video Game)

Customer Review

I have a rating system in which there is to achieve a maximum of 100 points for games. Under General, scoring and points that can be achieved is carried out. Here I share in technology, gameplay, story and atmosphere. I can also assure you that no relevant spoiler will occur. You can also directly read through the outline of the part that interests you.

It is, incidentally, only my opinion. I am neutral towards any genre and am working mostly with the single player of a game.

Gameplay:

Control:
The control is actually a bit dated, although I do not trailed the game because that's just the Resident Evil style. What I mean by that is the one the 3rd-person perspective and secondly the target system. Each weapon has a laser, so that you can see what you aim straight. While aiming there is no step forward or backward. As I said, I think that's not a good thing, but for the purpose of the old Resident Evil style, I'll take that into the bargain.

KI:
The AI has been reworked properly compared to its predecessors, and I can not say anything good here. Running zombies go more towards action than Survival Games. But what most bothers me is that it gives me rather than infected and deformed monster various attack tactics and zombies with fully automatic weapons. That has no place in an RE. This makes it difficult not even properly the Run. It just sucks. Most importantly, however, is the AI of your partner Sheva. From where I was actually quite excited. When comparing times with Ashley from Part 4, I was very pleased. She raises automatically place objects on, aims neat and does not stick to any objects.

Weapons:
Weapons were again neatly with many reingepackt. For my taste a little too many fully automatic weapons. While this disturbs less the gameplay, but the atmosphere. The upgrade system has been maintained and like it still.

Single Player:
The campaign is divided into several chapters and subchapters. The Run is linear and if you have time missed something, you can not get very far back. After the first pass, on one of the available levels of difficulty easy, medium, hard one may (etc. weapons, west) to keep its equipment and they can bring in the next run. With a shotgun and infinite ammo is then even the professional difficulty that you unlock after one playthrough, not a big problem. Since then missing although the challenge, but makes fun. I am pleased that one let the developers choosing.

Mercenaries:
This high score mode is of course there again. Who does not know, this one runs on a limited Map around with a character, collect ammunition, weapons and time. Is the time to a rank in the form of stars you will be awarded. This is determined by the points that you get by kills. Is also a nice bonus quantity and makes especially in multiplayer really fun.

General:
All in all I am really happy with the gameplay. A few innovations of control not hurt the Resi-flair. The AI only affects the atmosphere, but gameplay technically absolutely fine.
For gameplay from me it 17/25 points.

Story:

Storytelling:
The storytelling is done by pretty Cutscense rare Quick-Time-Events. Here you have to press at the right time the right button to go not on it. That behind the QTE's a lot more potential, Heavy Rain has already proven. So either properly or at all. ^^

Action:
With our Protagnisten Chris and Sheva, we propose us through Africa and try to combat any viruses again. Who would have believed it, but that does not succeed right away, and so we propose us wiedermal by a stroke of fate to the next, and even encounter tons Infected, abominations or ordinary people.

Characters:
What's not quite succeeded, but still better than the average, is the relationship with the characters. From the outset, one defeat his opponents with his partner, the one naturally not entirely ignores. You have to divide the inventory with him, help each other to bounce back and overcome obstacles together. That sounds as if you cry, if she dies, but it was not like that. I got the whole game is not held for more than one Strunz stupid partner. The part better implemented.

General:
The story is now nothing special, but better than nothing. Dramatic twists or an abundance of emotions one can not expect here.
For the story from me it 14/25 points.

Atmosphere:

Single Player:
Now comes my biggest gripe. The emerging atmosphere is in my opinion totally in the wrong direction. In Resident Evil is supposed to be a Where-the-hell-am-I-and-what-are-the-for-critters? Have -feeling. Instead, you have a Boa is-the-nasty-I-ballers-easy-off feeling. It feels more like an elite soldier with backing, of all cuts away here, what it gets in the way. Helplessness, disgust, loneliness, fear, or even horror can here unfortunately completely forget.

Weapons:
As already mentioned, fully automatic assault rifles, semi-automatic shotgun or rocket launcher act quite positively on the mind. Such parts in the luggage, give a feeling of security. Practically a joker, which you can use at any time, to get out of the most difficult situations. This feeling has no place in Resident Evil. That may be cool in an action-adventure game, but not in a survival game.

Surroundings:
The surrounding area is mostly sunny, disgusting and alive. Sun has actually lost nothing in Resident Evil. One should sneak through dark passages and hope that nothing lurking around the next corner. That just does not fit into the genre. But all Disgusting you can simply eliminate so. Small example: Relative to start, one encounters an executioner, with a huge ax. Technically, there's nothing to complain about. The looks absolutely class and its animations ease the atmosphere, which actually belongs to the game. The environment is in this case composed of a small village and a sunny day. Now you have the choice whether you walk a few minutes in the circle and waits until the helicopter shoots everything to pieces or you push him purely a rocket launcher and is rewarded with a treasure. Do you notice what I mean. As would have been much possible. The executioner alone in a dark torture chamber might have been something more appropriate.

General:
The fifth part of the Resident Evil series, which has become known through eerie atmosphere and panic, it creates indeed convey atmosphere, but not the one you want to have. Resident Evil Feeling occurs only in a DLC and otherwise not at all. The DLCs are included on the Gold Edition. Otherwise, they are chargeable.
For the atmosphere from me it 6/25 points.

Technology:

Graphics:
The graph I find extremely well for that time and can not even be seen today. (June 2013)

Sound:
The game runs in Dolby Digital compression with 5 separate channels. What bothers me here is that the weapon sounds all heard from the center, although for the normal front speakers are better. The samples per se, but are neat and tired. The voice recordings remain original English and thus remains the synchronization compared saves me.

Scope:
In addition to the detailed campaign a diverse modes are offered here. The scope is far above the average and if you rather want to see everything from the game, you sit a little longer than two or three weekends.

General:
Using the technique I am largely satisfied. She stands out in any case from the average. Sound and graphics are sufficient and the amount outstanding.
For the technique from me it 20/25 points.

Conclusion and evaluation:

Resident Evil 5 is weakening in terms of atmosphere and has outdated gameplay. Points may only with technology, especially in terms of scope. What you get here, though is a good game, but not what it could be intended.

For Resident Evil 5 from me it 57/100 points.

The game thus gets a 3 star rating and is in total only average. Viable alternatives for the PS3 Resistance 3 would be as Alien Shooter, Fear 1/2 as a horror game Silent Hill HD Collection or as a survival horror game with deep story. I hope I could help with my review. Over a DH, I would be very happy .;)

Best regards
