The important thing WLAN, Internet Radio and the possibility via DLNA / Airplay was play music from my NAS server.
First I had, because of bad experience with another Pioneer receiver, the Denon CEOL noir in mind. But since I do not feel like a faulty power supply had (see Amazon reviews on the plant) continued the search. Besides, a lot of my choice then on the Pioneer X-HM72 / X-HM82.
The difference between the two devices (gold-plated contacts and better boxing in the X-HM82) did not justify the price difference for me. Therefore, it was then the X-HM72.
The unit is meticulously crafted, the initial setup was simple, the integration into the wireless worked immediately.
Searching the Internet radio station was a bit cumbersome. Here (and also when you browse the music collection) would be a knob on the device very helpful. Unfortunately, a search for Internet radio stations missing.
The radio station I listen but I have saved as favorites, so far no problem.
The remote feels kind of cheap, but works and has a relatively logical. Not always, of course.
The Pioneer Control App for Android makes a usable impression.
It is nice that you can control almost all functions using the buttons on the top of the unit.
Along with the display can be the instrument quite well even without remote control.
Speaking of the display, you should here not super brilliant mobile display expected. But it is much better than the usual two or three lines matrix displays and for other plant and also displays cover files.
Overall, the operation of the device makes a pretty thoughtful impression.
What I found really cool: I have my DS audio app (app for music playback from my Synology NAS) songs selected from my NAS and then sent via airplay on the Pioneer.
Then I could with the remote control or the Pioneer Pioneer App problems indexing the selected songs or pause and restart.
I do not know whether that Airplay is standard, but the feature I find really awesome.
The sound with the supplied boxes for me as far as OK. I am also in the relationship no Hifi expert. In a pinch, one can also easily connect better speakers.
I have not tested since I do not have an account there, the Spotify function. Can I so nothing to say.
What was negative / not so great?
After switching on the last transmitter and the last file will not play automatically.
Sadly you can completely hide any inputs in the settings. I would like to refrain from eg FM / AM.
Sifting through large music collections with the directional pad and also with the Pioneer Control app a hassle. A jog dial on the unit would have been here really help calibration.
The speaker cords may have somewhat short. One meter more would not have hurt.
If you permanently want to connect a USB stick or a USB hard drive would have been nice back to the unit, another USB input.
Overall, I'm with the device but (in the 6 hours I have) very satisfied and would buy it again. Therefore I 4 stars :)
Update 1/16/2015:
Have the unit now in operation for several days and it is still like that. No problems with the Wi-Fi which goes through the ceiling to the attic.
The Pioneer Control app could however be improved.
So there I can still enter sleep timer and change the sound settings, the current status is, but I merely displayed the system and not within the app. This becomes an issue if you want to use the function and the display of the system has not in view.
Let's hope for a new version ...
