Instar controllable wireless IP camera IN-6012HD (WDR image sensor, WiFi, 1 Megapixel, 10x IR LEDs, 8 W) white (accessory)

Customer Review

I was looking for an IPCam, which not only brings good image quality, but also at night a good perspective on things. I wanted to use them in the building and fed via WLAN. It did not take a FullHD for me, but HD 720p should have. After looking long and read, I decided on this action.

The camera came packaged well with me.

Package Contents:
- The instructions (paper instructions (Quick Start Guide + full guide) was there,
- As well as a 2GB SD card,
- The WLAN antenna (which you can also switch to other, larger antennas)
- Electricity power supply (where can I find that the cable is too short a little)
- The camera itself (have taken them in white)
- As well as a short network cable (only sufficient for the establishment or when the cam stand next to the switch / router remains),
- A ceiling / wall bracket with dowels + screws,
- An installation CD with links to download the manuals and software.

Construction and installation:
The connection of the cam should be no problem. First you close a network cable to the Cam and then gives her power. Here you should make sure the first time that DHCP is enabled. Can help here too the small software (Instar Camera Tool), which can be on the CD from the INet download.
Now that Cam has obtained an IP, it can be in this with the IP in the browser and the login credentials (is in the instructions printed "admin" and "instar") access it directly and enjoy the menu. Solely here obscures the need the QuickTime plug-ins (or the player), the more you have to download and install, so you can see the H264 resolution. In IE, there are no problems in Firefox are more likely. For the FF one has yet to implement a setting, but it was described in the instructions in the QT player.
Then you should already see the picture of Cam (do not want to because so deeply enter).

Now After the image is seen, one should configure the cam on his own terms. I so to that I started from the top to the bottom in the menu began. So language settings, firmware update (yes, it is with Stand 09/2013 an update available that only through the web interface (most IE) should be recorded). This also fixes a few bugs regarding the wireless system in the action. I could not create a backup because a bug in the software is apparently still available. Although you can set the hook, but not send. Thus, the security settings remain in halt.

Then comes the network setup. It should be immediately said that one should appeal to the cam first with DHCP, but the config you should assign a fixed IP from your own network. On the one hand, that there can be no problems later with the app on the phone or via remote management and port forwarding. For this, the IP data (IP, DNS, GW, port and RTSP port define). Then confirm and Cam launches new short.

Right after that, you can also add into its WLAN Config (WEP, WPA, WPA2 and TKIP / AES selectable. Infra and ad hoc network. An important note also from instar is that Wi-Fi should be used by only 1-6 channel, as WPA2 with AES. I had previously used another channel and really do not get that Cam connects via Wi-Fi. It does, however, absolutely nothing out when hiding the SSD. It is nevertheless place. For me it worked for some attempts.
DynDns and UPnP also supports what I have, however, completely deactivated with me because I control the self through the router. Here you should have a little knowledge, if you want to adjust something there. But anything is possible.

Subsystem NTP have set unfortunately there are only prescribed and no self-registerable NTP server. Can you cope but, although I would have liked to have in here the ptbtime. After that, the user permissions come. Here are three users are given. Once "admin", then "User" and even "Guest". The admin can do anything, the user is allowed to see and pan the camera and only see the Guest. (The times in short form).
Then you can still adjust the IR LED whether they should operate automatically or off. Infrared works really well with me. See even after ca 5m still sharp and bright enough.
ONVIF also works (here you can also specify the port itself). A system log is still available here.

Then comes the menu item Multimedia. Here you can define the audio settings such as playback and recording (connections at the Cam on the back present). The picture settings are also yet determinable (eg, frame rate, etc.) Also under picture you can then adjust the saturation, brightness, contrast, etc. yet. However, the defaults are quite ok.

I think the most important If the alarm area. Here you can make various settings such as FTP, email, SDCard save, schedule, set monitoring areas, create (saved as email, FTP, SDCard), etc. A really wide range photo series. Sending emails via SMTP works without problems, as well as FTP delivery. Even storing a series of photographs on the SD card works according to set times as you like.

Then down comes only the directional pad, where you can the camera left-right and up-down control. Wired it responds immediately with WLAN is a latency to feel (1-2 sec). Here you can also make a V- or H-Scan and this of course stop.
The ability to store 8 fixed positions also works well.

Terms:
Everything works as promised, and the connection to Synology DS413j with a surveillance station works via ONVIF without problems. Unfortunately, there is not yet Syno support for the 6012 innately, but as long as a compatible interface is available, it works without problems. For me at least that was the same the second time around.
Use my Android App (App instar) works also very good, even with the user rights described above. However, one must remember that it frees the ports on his router (port forwarding), if you want to turn from the outside. Here you must then use the ports that you have specified in the IP settings. Unfortunately, this is also just a DynDNS name or possibly a fixed IP. If you want to work only in the WLAN with the app, then you do not need that. I also still needs to test some other third-party apps if the possibly provide added value. Otherwise, the app is free and running smoothly. The camera can be controlled here as well, depending on the user. Ipad I have not tried it yet, but will surely also work.
Through the Internet and the port forwarding so you get whatever his Cam plan without first establish a VPN tunnel. But would a little test yet.

Conclusion:
The application, as well as the cam is actually easy to understand and easy to handle. The manuals then help it out on the one and the other away. Unfortunately works, even with the latest firmware, securing its settings not, but otherwise I can so far nothing negative to say about the larger cam. It does what it should, and does not look so bad, offers a lot of configuration options and is also quite quiet when turning. Lauter is, however, if these switches from normal to IR with a "click".

All in all a good chat with a few special features of the device (peculiar to Wi-Fi) and with minimal defects in my opinion currently, but this star means to deliver for me.
Nor was it so beautiful that I had to reset it once, because after the change of the user and the password I absolutely did not come in with the admin account. Apparently the Cam has not eaten clean. On the second attempt, we went.
You also have to know that the IP that you firmly set for LAN and WLAN is used. Can the Cam do not respond, then always tuned as the first LAN cable and only thereafter the power cable. Then the cam is available via LAN. The same with WLAN. = LAN cable out, pull current, wait a few seconds and then power purely. Then the WLAN starts up and selects one yourself. Not pretty, but if you know it, then there's not so many problems.

The build quality is good, but I know it even better. You could possibly use some wertigere materials, but otherwise I think it's ok for the price with the delivery.
Well what I think is the way of the lens changes and purchase of accessories.

So I do not regret the purchase and hope to have much fun if. I'll get in touch with the appropriate time again to words when a little time has passed and I still more a few other apps, etc. could test.

Through a hint I was not made aware that I had forgotten a little respect. Image quality, etc.
So is the image quality when you have focused the lens quite well. 720p resolution is thus therefore of good use. It can even detect small facets. The night vision, but I use this primarily, convinced me but very good. The illumination is very good for my areas about 5-7m. Again, you can very well see the individual things and me 25 frames it is very convincing even with night vision. In hindsight, of course, only black / white, with days in color. Here I find overdriven slightly red, but even that is perfectly ok for me as I had not owned except the 100% correct color reproduction.
When the camera pans you can rotate around the axis actually once, almost 360 degrees would be possible, I only use a certain range. Depending on the mounting (ceiling or wall) one is anyway somewhat limited. Height and depth is ok, the depth settings in my opinion should be a little more, but that is because of my installation (mounted flat).

The volume in turn is really minimal. The control of pans per app, web interface and runs quite well. About LAN actually no delay in wireless, however, so 1-2 seconds delay, but still acceptable. I have 8 fixed points selected and programmed it so that the cam goes directly to the positions.
A bucking, I could not find the pan unless the approach you want to set as bucking.

Questions are of course allowed, even if all could not be clarified yet. I hope I could help and would appreciate a positive assessment of my recession. Thank you
