The P340 I bought to haul not (Nikon) DSLR equipment again on vacation. But I did not give up picture quality and was not disappointed. You can pick out a lot of image quality of the camera, especially with the wide range of possible settings. In full automatic mode, the camera is also OK, but goes into A, S and M real thing (The technical details can be any view itself) The f1: 1.8 lens is good, I have at night with derision measurement and single-point AF good and noise free results, the automatic has left it at ISO800, and the same setup can not much better the big Nikon. VR works perfectly, Time-lapse also works very well, and 60fps burst. WiFi Android works fine and so you can control the camera from the Enfernung or upload beautiful pictures. I have to get the two thousand photos shot in the few days since I have the P340 and am convinced by the little black thing. Autofocus is fast, and there is a focus peaking, which even do not exist at the Nikon DSLRs (or at least it is not known to me).
A plus point I would like to specially emphasize: Camera Let be loaded with any charger microUSB, as with many smartphones, so you should not bring even the Nikon charger.
The only drawback: the provided View NX2 looks compared to the ways of old from P340, a freeware but however completely OK.
Full disclosure: that's all the personal opinion of someone who has paid full price as early adopters of Amazon and is satisfied. One should not forget that it is here to a small camera is a small 1 / 1.7 inch sensor, which fits into a small neoprene case :)

As mentioned by other reviewers, it is possible for a discharge of the battery, and it has caught me too. The camera could no longer turn on, and I sent them the same over Amazon for Nikon service Dresden. They came just as quickly back with the note that there is no problem with the camera. But the battery endurance is possible, etc., etc. ... Obviously this is a weak point. I dabe evaluation accordingly of 5 * changed to 4 *, namely because the same, a user error is indicated. Nikon user are usually clever genung and take good care of the battery, and I have even on the years somehow good hingekriegt with my DSLR and other compact. Even Nikon himself, the better: my kids take pictures with a Nikon Coolpix 6xxx, when the battery lasts literally for months. The P340 remains, I will probably get myself a third-party battery, because I like very much else. Anyway, I'll keep you posted ...
UPDATE 19.12.2014:
Since the firmware update everything is fine, batteries are always charged. I also bought myself a Patona-EN-EL12, works perfectly (Star Bundle * Patona PREMIUM Battery for Nikon EN-EL12).
