It is indicated compatible with the jack, 5 poles but it is information that is hardly ever broadcast by the manufacturers, even in the most detailed data sheets.
However, I got it to work through a jack adapter (a small extension)
However, the microphone works well on my Nexus 7 and without adapter.
The app Sony recording is done well, it has been found freely available on the Play Store
We can also use the app regardless of microphone (with a lesser quality recording). This is one of the best app in its field.
