Hab old CRT monitors and my last 17-inch model chosen after 8 years for me this Acer model, because my old things have become too small. In my search, I wanted a low-power monitor, which is technically up to date and does not cost too much. The Acer S242HLCBID was exactly according to my wishes.
After 1 month of testing now here is my review.
Positives:
- The monitor has an elegant and above all slim design. A noble-looking gloss finish that just attracts some dust, but otherwise super everywhere comes across.
- The device is very easy and space-saving
- Thanks to its LED technology very low power consumption (see official description of the article)
- The panel is matt and does not reflect
- All cables included (except HDMI).
- Sharp Image
- The 2ms response time makes itself felt. When testing visually stunning and fast video games there were no adverse effects such as ghosting, streaks or stuttering. The performance was accurate, clean and swift as an arrow. Ideal for video games of all kinds.
- Perfect illumination of the panel. Often occurring teething of (usually very large 40 inch) LED monitors like Clouding (flashlight effect), Screenbleeding or similar did not exist.
- All necessary / important connections including HDMI.
- Detects Windows 7 immediately, no technical problems
NEUTRAL:
- Color saturation is very pale with factory settings, in its setting (via the supplied with a CD Acer display management program) the best colors, however, were very satisfactory to good, but not necessarily among the top monitors. As one might have expected more because of the promise of Acer. Bluish or similar can be resolved quickly by settings. Do not scare of the factory settings, adjust itself !!!
- Knobs are at the bottom of the monitor. This makes the monitor while a cool impression that the keys can be reached, however, a bit stupid. But should not be a problem, since you do not often use this.
- No loudspeakers. I think not as bad as most people have good speakers for the PC at the price (which would also be recommended as standard speaker monitors usually are not that great).
Negatives:
- The monitor sits a little wobbly on the fixed base. Stability is different. In an inattention of the Monitor would be not just stable, since the stand with its round shape rather small and slight effect.
CONCLUSION: This monitor looks sleek, slim design, is a space-saving, technically fulfilled all conditions with flying colors, also has to have all the important ports and is still at competitive prices (including HDMI.). Only the color is rather mediocre and can not really keep up with (expensive) top monitors. The absence of speakers can cope with this price, because most eh quality PC speakers call their own.
Highly recommended
