The decision for the Asus thus fell (eg test winner at Stiftung Warentest) because of the low price, the speakers and the good reviews.
+ Workmanship and design of the monitor are very good
+ Stable and easy installation of the foot
+ Very nice rich colors, sharpness and contrast well
+ Switching between several modes by pressing a button
+ No subpixel (of course, is always a matter of luck)
+ DVI (HDCP) and VGA, all connections are easily accessible at the rear
o No height adjustment, but for people in normal size range by recline easily adaptable
o Complete instructions and driver only on the Internet, but now almost standard. I do not mind.
- Light halos ("torches") in the upper and lower central area of the panel. If only at a black screen, although a minus point.
- The speakers are not really useful in spite of low expectations. Something tinny in the system tones. Music and videos to hear due to the complete occupation of the frequency range a little better at. Clear downside.
The Samsung 226BW is mE little better, but the price / performance ratio in the Asus is still good. I can recommend the monitor despite these weaknesses.
