I was / am looking for a replacement for my getting on in days MX518. This fits perfectly in my hand and allowed me a comfortable grip mouse (in Palm Grip), where my index finger on the left button and the middle finger on the right button.
The Roccat appealed to me because it is not overloaded and thus also as a gaming mouse on my work desk does not act out of place and also is very close to the shape of the MX518.
To install and Software (Win7 64bit):
(+/-) The installation went very smoothly, download the necessary software did not cause any problems.
The software does what it is intended, even if it affects a little too styled and thus loses clarity.
However, one negative is my easy-shift function. The rear side (back) button is set by default as an easy-shift key, ie pushes to these attacks for the other key an alternative assignment. A nice idea to no extra buttons on more features to grant access. Unfortunately, this key would not remap any problem but. The change in the software to "IE back" (ie, back) had no function, while the front button is default to "IE forward" and also works. As a workaround, I have the back button with the "IE Forward" occupied and the front with "IE back", because in this setting, responded the back button and then in the corresponding programs "Forward" and "Back" reversed ... quite cumbersome and annoying. "Easy" -Shift done differently.
For mouse ansich:
(+) Processing mouse is impeccable, the surfaces feel wertig, Key and Scrollradwiderstand are pleasantly spührbar so precise control is possible.
(+/-) The mouse is very small allerdigns. They both fall slightly narrower and shallower than the MX518, which in my hands (average to little men hand) leads to problems under control. For a pleasant attitude I have more to so-called. Change Claw-Grip and also has middle and ring fingers put on the right button, what I emfpand for an uncomfortable and, secondly, the pressure point of the right button changed (probably due to the weight of both fingers ), so I always had the feeling accidentally right-click.
Conclusion:
Too bad, really a nice mouse that is limited to the essentials, with small weaknesses in the software.
For average to tall men hands (at least in the Palm Grip), however, the mouse seems hardly suitable.
