What a first "catch the eye" with this phone is the most noble front. Specular Plexiglas surface, shimmering red sensor keys and a small external display via the MP3 player of the handset can be controlled by means of said keys. Here, however, been a point of criticism: The surface know after a short use (and I got the phone really quasi handled with kid gloves =)) small fine, yet visible scratches on. A little more robust, there should have been already. If you open it reminds strongly to the old Z600 (even by Ericsson) with the slightly protruding flap and the numeric keys in retro charm. The mobile phone From behind the phone is kept in a matt black plastic look. Granted, the design will not appeal to everyone, especially since it opened but very reminiscent of old times, but for all who like to have a little nostalgic and eccentric, just right =).
To the internal values:
The main feature is the 8GB of internal memory of the phone. Plenty of room so for music photos. A 3.2 megapixel camera, HSDPA for fast surfing Video telephony has a really splendid Mp3 player and the usual standard functions such as a calendar, organizer and of course telephony and SMS function. The camera is the greatest weakness of the otherwise really successful phone. No autofocus, no image stabilizer. Where the images on the small mobile phone display still act very well, you notice no later than the washed-out on the computer, the colors and the pictures are overexposed. That they do not do at least the same technique (without additional features, has indeed worked in the old W810i models) as used in the Cybershot models is incomprehensible. Not even a photo light was the phone donated. The issue raised by the previous speaker poor battery performance can by switching off the HSDPA / UMTS GSM function to normal mode significantly extended. I speak from experience because I surf a lot with the mobile Internet and the battery with activated UMTS Turbo after about 2 hours gives up the ghost. Without this feature, the phone keeps a good 5 days ago. Even 12 hours of music at a time no problem (I tried habs =)). The MP3 player is as always the highlight, as with any phone in the W-series. Simple Bedieung, very clear sound (by Clear Bass and Clear Stereo technology even a bit better than before) and many ways to sort titles to seek to display itself, etc. Whether now opened or closed using the touch panel keys and the smaller external display , the Walkman player can be operated comfortably and easily in any form. Who even wants to enjoy on an external system with radio reception his music can do so via the built-in FM transmitter. It should be said, however, that does not reach the quality of a cable connection, the sound quality. However, for a music collection without the hassle of changing CD in the car it was good enough.
Conclusion:
If you want an exclusive phone with outstanding entertainment features and poor camera (hence only 4 stars) and the high price is not afraid to be highly satisfied with the W980. For all others there's alternatives, such as the W890, W910, C902 or K850i.
