PRO:
- Semi-glossy display: Reflects less than the glass pane in plasma, does not interfere in my living room with lateral sunlight
The display like it better than the old full glare because colors are a little stronger
- Great design with frames made of black, brushed metal (-look) and a modern plastic base with piano lacquer finish
- Beautifully slim bezel, again significantly narrower than the 2011 models, also thinner housing and also become easier!
- Significantly more detailed and smoother image than the 579er. Since in any case has been done what the image processor, the display above does the rest.
- Faster menu, apps load faster than the 579S
- 3 USB with lifting assistance, 4 HDMI ports = As you can properly what dranhängen!
CONTRA:
- Browser still somewhat ponderous
- No more sleep button = Although the TV consumes less than a light bulb, but with Internet Radio wants you sometimes off the screen; Goes without the key no longer so easy!
- No backlit remote control more = Had the old 579 even a step back, because the FB is good in itself made the haptics
- The TV suffers from the partially still bad apps that YouTube app is still a lot of nerve and vTuner Internet Radio can not even show title and artist
That was my WD TV live three years ago!
NEUTRAL:
- Touch operation at the lower edge of the housing = nice gimmick, but normal keys would have done it.
MEDIA PLAYER:
No comparison to 579er, the LM 620S plays everything, even problematic container formats like MKV's (of my collection, he plays all and these are some)
It will finally support DTS from internal player! It had to LG customers to wait long or buy Samsung. My WD TV Live is now retired :-)
Subtitles in file folders work as well and can be switched off
IMAGE QUALITY:
Slight banding at the bottom with really dark statue = Can I live with, in movies is nothing struck me; DSE I do not see as well.
Schlieren with fast movements I could not fix, if necessary I post out my picture settings from the (mind) Media Player.
3D:
TOP! I'm not a fan of 3D, which I never liked before the cinema, but at home makes it really fun, the 4 supplied glasses are lightweight and comfortable to wear, the effect depending on the material (!) Very well.
Test Movies: Avatar and Titanic 3D, I'm really excited, great popups without headaches.
CONCLUSION = AGAIN BUY?
Good question, the TV is visually and technically flawless and absolutely on the amount of time, with the initial price of about 800 euros was quite high, but favorable year television as the LG 659S or 579S could LW just too much.
The Smart TV has become better and faster, but the apps not better. The integrated media player is, however, great! Plays everything and saved me a remote control or batteries forever my One For All.
The picture is for BluRay friends better compared to the matte panels last year.
Would I buy the TV again? Yes.
Why?
Personally, I would be in the future (ie 1-2 years) the largest possible image for movies rather large panels but short supply have become without much equipment, even on the (dying?) Plasma sector.
Media players like the Google TV box from Sony or WD TV Live offer (and offered) in the future, the same multimedia capabilities, are more flexible and can be on the ARC mode with only one remote control.
But since it as mentioned above hardly Equipment adjusted TV's (especially LEDs) are, I had to bite and take the 620s in the bullet. Okay okay the 615er would have been an option, but that gave itself the time of purchase is not much.
The LG here is top and fun. Point.
SUPPLEMENTARY 08:10:12:
After visiting several site's and the calling various Apps of TV apps will not start but invites forever. Just pulling the power cable brings the solution. Will I continue to observe.
SUPPLEMENTARY 13:10:12:
I'm a big fan of Internet radio stations and have this very often used with my WDTV. The LM 620 also has an Internet Radio app called "vTuner".
While this app accesses the most comprehensive database of stations, unfortunately the app shows weaknesses in the operation / surface.
So it is not possible to access the power saving modes via Quickmenu and turn off the screen ... I do it quite like when I hear and then do not want to be distracted from the TV screen such as solo piano.
So is not so .... I saw myself now compelled to rejoin my WDTV to listen to the radio; This shows, contrary to app to even track, artist and possibly cover!
Hopefully LG developed the vTuner app even further because it is quite nice and runs fix, but does not bring happiness if one is better used.
UPDATE === ATTENTION === UPDATE
Big news: The power saving mode can be still, just as with the 2011 models, change keystroke !!!
Normally, the setting power is eg greyed in the settings during a movie or the vTuner not at present .... so far so bad
BUT: I am yesterday by chance on my One For All universal remote control came on the wrong key (the "Note" button) and lo and behold: The Power mode can be set back and thus turn off the panel when Internet Radio both the Media Player and the VTuner! !!
On 4 stars I will nevertheless not increase, since this case simply is not reproducible and it is purely and simply on the remote control!
! EDIT 25/09/2014!
=================
There are now in the Windows Phone Store, two apps that you can control the TV. This also allow the Operation by mouse and: you can change via smartphone power saving mode.
Personally, I now use a Rasperry Pi with MPD (Music Player Daemon) as a 24/7 Internet radio and therefore no longer need the tuner on the TV's.
