Good music, bad / s mixing / mastering

From the first song come good and bad sides to this album: 'Tempting Time' begins with a sequence intressanten electric guitar and Clean, then comes the drums, bass and rhythm guitar. So far so good, until then a very transparent mix. But then as the lead guitar is added, you can hear as a compressor pushing down the overall mix. The intro was so mixed already at the limit, and so the nice sounding solo generated rather more dynamic, only distorted noise in the medium frequency range.

An example where not the limiter, but the EQ was used incorrectly can be heard when comparing the 7th and 8th Song: While in 'The Price of Everything ...' the slightly distorted real pool, and even more the extremely distorted electro HiHats provide too much treble, there are the following song 'CAFO' extremely deep bass blended that a dull the fun of varied music something.

The strengths of the album are those songs and Parts which consist of only a few instruments, so songs No. 3, 4, 5, 10 and 11. So the more jazzy stuff. The harder and more monumental songs it is a pity. It is still light years away from the sound of about Obscura, Necrophagist, Porcupine Tree, Opeth or Nightwish.

But as the music is really exciting, still 4 star.
