Good NAS server, but ...

I bought the DNS 320L as a supplement to my DNS-320 (without L). It was interesting for me when 320L in addition the possibility of a private cloud without service Unfortunately, as Google Drive, iCloud, etc.

Included with the 320L includes everything to get started immediately. Only the hard drives should already have ;-). D-Link has even thought of settling a network cable. All in all, the delivery very satisfactory.

Hardware installation is very easy. Lid, 1 or 2 SATA hard drives clean (both HDDs do not have the same model, capacity, etc. be), to cover, plug in the network cable to the router, power and ran the 320L starts immediately.

The software of the 320L I already knew from 320. Therefore, I did not have to look far to find settings. A manual is included, which I needed at that time only for the access and the IP address to the NAS via the Internet browser. After logging in via the browser immediately Wizard appears as a configuration aid. This is very simple and makes the manual as described above, redundant. Just so must be the !! :-)

I have a NAS for some time in continuous operation in use. I use it for backup (documents, images, etc.) and as a DLNA server. This function Media Player or TVs with built-in DLNA client for music, movies, images of the NAS can be accessed over the network and then streamed from the server. I have from the Western Digital Media Player "WD TV HD Live" on TV in use, which means DLAN (LAN via socket) of AVM Fritz! communicates with the NAS. Working properly and can be recommended for this purpose without limitation !!
PS: Do not forget in the 320L in DLNA menu, hard drives should be indexed so that the DLNA clients also can find what ;-)). That was the beginning of my problem, which was solved after some Google search!

Now comes the but ...
D-Link advertises described with the 320L with a personal cloud as in the beginning of the article. I had not researched in detail before buying. For the cloud functionality with the 320L a cloud service from D-Link must be paid, which just provides the functionality. So not including available by purchasing the NAS! :-(
The issue with the cloud would have been an added value for me only and was not decisive for the purchase.

I am fully satisfied with the purchase of 320L. But I only give 4 stars because D-Link should get round open with information on the cloud!
Otherwise, if the cloud solution has not a high priority, I can recommend the full 320L.
