Workmanship: The device feels very high quality, was positively baffled by weight. As a longtime MacBook Pro users are of course accustomed high quality of workmanship, Acer is here but nothing after.
Power: Very satisfactory. In conjunction with the SSHD and eight gigabytes of memory, the processor may well play out its strengths. Programs open quickly, RAR packages can be nimble and unpack at all you have to consistently get the feeling something nimble under the hood.
Gaming: I'm occasional gamers, hence the GT840M enough for my needs. TF2, Banished, CS: GO, Hearthstone run all problems. As it is, however, behave with more demanding titles, I can not judge. But I think that at least at a reduced quality titles like Far Cry 4, GTAV & Co. are playable.
Display & Sound: Surprisingly good. The applied IPS panel impresses with color fidelity representation, when compared with a (set) TN panel has been a wow moment. When viewing angle can not be bitching. The sound is also absolutely top notch. Whether in movies or music, the Acer is loud and sounds good.
WLAN: I've around the predecessor read repeatedly of disconnections in advance. I tested the notebook all day today and could not reproduce this. On the contrary, the wireless connection is stable and extremely fast.
Installing Windows: Have the Windows 8.1 installed on a USB stick, which was a bit complicated. First, had the BIOS on legacy mode to be changed and the complete installation without touchpad (?) Be tackled. Only after I had an internet connection, I was able to use the touchpad. Even with the drivers there were minor problems repeatedly. Overall, a bit complicated, after half a day then work but everything just as you want it.
Touchpad: Last, but unfortunately least: the touchpad. Here, I was really disappointed and used by the MacBook much better. Partial entries are not registered or the pointer jumps wildly around. No, that must not be real costs and the notebook also a star. My recommendation: use the device with mouse, otherwise the frustration is very quickly become very large.
Conclusion: With the Aspire VN7-571G-56N0 Acer provides overall an excellent all-round notebook, which can also be used for casual gaming. Build quality, display and sound are 1A, the touch pad on the other hand very badly. Nevertheless, a strong buy recommendation, especially for this excellent price-performance ratio.
