I update my hardware so from a 40 Plasma Philips to finally experience on the TV 3D. Plenty of 3D Blu-Rays I have, since I use a 3D video projector from Acer for two years in the home theater. However, some discs are really problematic for a projector, for example, the nightly forest scenes in Merida or something in Prometeus.
So I just tested the before buying. Wunderbar! Finally, all details can be seen even in dark scenes. So ever met my first criterion!
Now for the device and its start-up itself:
Design

The Samsung UE50H6270 features an extremely narrow margin, narrower than on my 24er Samsung monitors that would suffer just as a two-screen solution with a wide edge. There are top and on the sides just remeasured 7.5mm, down slightly wider. That's really fucking narrow and looks terrific from with such a panel 125cm.
Foot I have left in a box, because instead use my Vivanco Wall mount which already held the plasma chunks on the wall. The foot but it looks good and has a high-quality metallic surface. He is considerably more delicate than the base of the plasma TV and my 3 year old Samsung UE40D5700.
There right down under the IR receiver and an LED that flashes when IR signals are received, but otherwise made.
On the back of the lower right corner there is also a kind of joystick, to have the search without the remote control can control a few essential things, the menu, power-off, input selection and Smart Hub. Otherwise, there are no controls on the device itself!
Commissioning

After unpacking, hanging and connection of electricity and satellite cable and insert the supplied batteries in the remote control, it started with the installation. This leads in a few steps through the configuration of language, broadcasters, network and Smart TV options.
I first selected the connection via Wi-Fi, so tortured me by the touch of your screen keyboard. You can alternatively use a Bluetooth or USB keyboard and mouse.

This is valid not only the necessary consent to the Samsung Terms but some optional check with whom you would agree with massive data transmission and recording of preferences as well as commercials. This can be seen but only if you scroll down. So deselect the first check and then uncheck all except the two Samsung Terms of Use!
In one of the final steps, the transmitter will be scanned, which I have previously reduced the scan on unencrypted channels. The scan itself is much faster than that of any receiver that I had previously.
As the Smart Hub then tried to download more than 1,000 updates, I have this but then only once canceled and rescheduled prefer later time.
Overall, the facility was pretty fast, but you should read exactly what there so everything is in demand and - if you are not familiar with smart TVs - draw someone with experience to rate or basically decide something paranoid.

Basically itself very brilliant, in particular HD channels are mistaken present. See SD channels but only once significantly worse than in the old XGA plasma. A first Blu-ray test was also very disappointing as a Hollywood firecrackers suddenly like a B-Movie had once motion or blur came into the picture. Unfortunately, here again shows the ignorance of the manufacturer and transmitter: a transmitter transmits instead of 16: 9 4: 3 signal, then this will be 16: 9 distorted. While you can add this image to 4 manually using the P-size button: switch 3, but then are all 16: 9 broadcasts all SD stations on 4: 3 squeezed (affects HD channels but not). Even in the store, and now at home shows a typical problem of many LED Edge backlighting: In the corners you see in uniform frames a slight vignetting (darkening). You have to but want to see and it interferes in the TV and movie mode hardly for presentation purposes, however, it looks not so good.
3D

As written in the introduction, my 3D display was particularly important. With a Samsung SSG-5100GB / XC 3D Active shutter glasses (battery operation) I was able to examine this and am pleased with the razor-sharp images even in dark scenes, the image simply säuft not expire.
Amazingly well does the 2D> 3D conversion (with my Sony 3D player, I found not the).
OnScreen display

The volume control and station selection incl. Program information are displayed side animated on the screen and disappear quite quickly again. For more detailed inform the Info button displays at the top of shipment information, can be zapped with the cursor keys to other broadcasters or later broadcasts through, a sort of mini-program guide.
The Program Guide even there on the Guide button. This shows beautifully uncluttered and in good design stations and broadcasts. Pressing and holding the Enter key, you can view shipment details, or to record the program on the so-called. Program Manager on a connected USB mass storage.
The Smart Hub can not be described in a few words, this one has a little deal with it. But so much: After running the shifted when SetupUpdates appears when you press the Smart Hub button at the bottom of a sort of mini-stroke, showing the last most used media, so preferred channels, HDMI, USB, equipment and Smart Hub applications.

As the home theater for action flick with Bums already exists, I here a good (and sleep-compatible) reaches TV sound. I connected an old 320GB notebook drive. For this purpose there is a USB connection with 1A power. My previous receiver only provides the normal 500mA available, which was too little for this 2.5-inch disk. The recordings are (seemingly) stored in folders named after the date of the recorded program (in fact, they are as cryptic files in the folder "content").
Unfortunately, the whole thing is worthless and very angry, because the recording medium as EXT4 (Linux) will be formatted. In addition, no TS files (transport stream) but SRF files stored with a DRM encryption. So the data you get only under Linux. Even if you get them on a Windows machine, then you can not play, because you can convert it to a TS file though (eg with DeSTRoi), but the encryption terminates the action when playing or cutting with TS-Doctor. Decryption can be currently probably only the streams to the D-series, in any case I have found nothing to H series.
So one takes free to air broadcasts on, then you missed a Samsung stupid encryption.
My dealer said before buying my concrete demand that would be recorded on FAT32 as TS files in 1GB parts. Dealers are no longer what they used to be ...
So I'll probably continue my Xoro HRS 8580 DVB-S2 Mini Digital Satellite Receiver (HDTV, HDMI, PVR-Ready, USB 2.0) Black must use for recording on NTFS, where the recordings with TS-Doctor can be processed perfectly.
PVR recordings can be the way very well and smoothly backwards and coils like classic video recorders or editing programs (which can not be the Xoro so good). Only with time-shift recording, it is not as smooth as the drive is yes used simultaneously read and write (yesterday tested in Formula 1, as Massa Perez has shot and only a hair's breadth of Vettel sailed past).
Addendum to Time-Shift Recording: When using time-shift, there is a limit of 90 minutes! That's enough for a missed neither scheduled nor for a Formula 1 race and to guarantee the decision. Instead of pressing just the pause button (Time-Shift starts) you should first record and then press Pause (normal recording is started and then stopped). So there is no time limit!
Remote

The FB is a bit fancier than the D-Series, because it simply is not just a log, but the bottom is cylindrical. This it is smooth in the hand. On the bottom of a trough is formed which serves for orientation. If you put there while keeping the FB the finger into it, then the Zapper-thumb is right on the block with CH +/-, volume +/-, Mute, Ch-List, Menu, Smart Hub and Guide (EPG). Unfortunately, the area is hardly offset from one another.
Quite nice the keypad button is (Virtual Remote) that pops up a small menu, with the (otherwise referred to as a program (ierungs) Manager) to directly browser, PiP, 3D switch, Speaker Setup, Schedule Manager, Sleep timer, can achieve image presets and the e-Manual. According to the manual also other functions are offered depending on the operating mode.
Once a connected player is playing a movie, is switched directly on this HDMI port and is now available (thanks to Anynet +) the player with the remote control in its basic functions can be controlled.
Conclusion

After some setting changes I am now satisfied with image, sound and functions and can recommend the device.

Practically, the automatic software update that runs automatically when the TV is in standby. So one must not respond to the approximately monthly updates but can happen overnight it easy. Of course, you can manually start the update also.
### UPDATE # 2
PVR: As very practical has proved that it is possible to start and stop times give to an offset, eg start recording 10 minutes before the official start and also stop recording until 10 minutes after the end. I have to adapt in other PVRs for the EPG records otherwise always manually.
So you want to record a movie 22:10 to 23:55, for example, the programming will automatically set to a period 10 p.m. to 0:05 so that any shifts in the private channel not ruin the recording.
When recording (red record button) manual recording time is set according to the transmission time of the EPG for the latest update automatically, this can then but during recording also extend up to 360 minutes.
MULTIMEDIA: I stream movies from a Serviio media server and can play almost anything offered by the media server. Unfortunately, there is no profile for the H-series, so I use the of the D / E series. Not playable all MKVs and MP4s in Full HD are (HD and PAL goes but), I save this order, therefore, as TS in Full-HD (h264 / mp3 with subtitles).
From a USB device but can be even MKVs play (also 3D) quite easily. Thus one its DVDs and Blu-Rays just pulls MakeMKV as a backup to a USB drive and they can immediately play from there, the originals remain on the shelf.
I have (ie music) played for the first time MP3s. The full-screen player is quite chic and shows while playing the embedded cover and an overview of the remaining tracks on the album.
I now have some pictures set as customer pictures in which you hope despite the Amazon side boundary or conversion to 500 pixels which can recognize.
### UPDATE # 3
The mentioned problems with Full HD MP4s are obviously the transcoding means VLC. Even with the playable full HD TS files to audio dropouts showed when streaming over the network, as well as reasonable forward and rewind and jump to an exact position was not really possible.
Therefore, I can now convert with HandBrake the MKVs in MP4s and behold: Full HD, uninterrupted sound and clean navigation are no longer a problem. In particular, the recognition and Einrechnen forced subtitle goes there automatically with the appropriate setting.
When negative, the volume control that works well for normal television program and is going on in the range of about 8 to 15 turns. For movie playback but usually must be psyched clearly (is on other devices even otherwise), however, the effect at higher settings is really deficient. It is not uncommon, I have to turn in BluRays to 25-30, but an increase to 50 or 60 makes only a marginal volume growth. Since the TV seems to have a very conservative control and probably the power is throttled before it the speaker damage comes to distortion and, although that would not be for the weak often DTS or AC3 signals. Since then a proper sound system for good and punchy tone must provide care.
### UPDATE # 4
The switching between SD (DVB-S) since the purchase is already in amazing speed (in comparison with some set-top boxes, and another Samsung TV from the D-series). A permanent nuisance are shown at the top of the screen messages that indicate either a software update or include other embassies. The Disturbing is the short fade. Because usually the texts are formulated much too long, so that after a few seconds starts scrolling and you are curious what is at stake. But before we learn that the info is already disappears and there is no way to look at this again in the System menu. This is simply programmed stupid.
### Update # 5
I have now occupied myself a bit more with 3D formats and made the experience that this TV can deal better with its media player with 3D files than purebred 3D BluRay player. This I did with a Samsung BD-H5500 3D Blu-ray player and a Samsung HT-H4500R 5.1 3D Blu-ray home theater system and a Sony BDP-S490 3D Blu-ray player through tested while 3D material, both via USB as also played via DLNA. At least I've tried. Unfortunately could play in any of the 3D BlueRay player 3D Files (BluRay MVC). For this I have gemuxt films as MKV and as M2TS. Once you burn the same material as a BluRay, then they can suddenly.
The Samsung UE50H6270 it also does not create at MKVs but as M2TS run some movies perfectly in 3D (via USB and DLNA) while others are not, unfortunately, I have not yet figured out what causes problems since. At first I had the soundtrack in suspicion because the media player of the TV gets out at DTS, but also to convert to AC3 no success was recorded.
For that I have but done in this course the magnificent experience that you can get a fantastic 5.1 surround sound for this TV for little money when I connected 5.1 3D Blu-ray home theater system, the Samsung HT-H4500R that costs less brings as many Soundbar and equal nor a 3D Blu-ray player and a simple FM radio and all the necessary speakers. The connection is made only via the HDMI cable to the HDMI ARC (Audio Return Channel) connection. Immediately, the receiver automatically turns on the TV on and off and is completely controlled in normal operation with its remote control through Anynet +. The Samsung HT-H4500R 5.1 3D Blu-ray home cinema system is in my opinion the perfect complement if you want to have a lot of movies for really little money. Sure there are better units, but then you pay even several times and probably also a TV of the superclass.
