Visually appealing makes the new device before a better idea, it is difficult and you have no longer to provide a feeling just an empty box into the rack. A few keys have fallen off, but that does not bother me, since I anyway operator the part only by remote control. For but a piece of the display is now bigger and therefore much easier to read from a distance. The rate has also risen, and the scratching and scraping noise of the drive are finally gone. With CDs, DVDs, SACDs and 2D Blu-rays, the device is also really pretty quiet except for a high-frequency whistle, perhaps not everyone listens. However, this increases considerably in 3D Blu-rays, as these are read at a higher speed and is then often the case with movies very clearly audible and real pain. Some discs then clearly audible vibrations of the drive come in 1713 again as to which are transmitted to the whole body and subside after about 10-15 minutes of film. This is disappointing.
Another reviewer wrote that the 1713 would not read BD-R. I can not confirm. I have a few BD-R DL and BD-RE DL played and these were read without any problems. Where the 1611 still had trouble changing layers and chapter jumps were partially accompanied with dangerous-sounding rattle and scratching noises, the 1713 has no difficulty.
Otherwise, there are hardly any differences to its predecessor, except for a new third standby "quick start" and that the player remembers now that you've finished playing, and then there is another day the option right there resume playback, even if had inserted another disc in the meantime. Very convenient.
Conclusion: In general, the drive is very quiet, but depending on the medium to be played that will change quite quickly and especially in 3D BDs can be extremely distracting drive noise during the first few minutes of a movie. That said, I would recommend the player fully.
