The catch is that with the Galaxy Note 2 left the speaker switch and the right of the ON / OFF switch located. In the first loading attempts the phone started over again, because the jaw on the on / off button pressed, or the volume has been adjusted .. In the enclosed instructions is proposed, depending on the arrangement of the buttons, the phone to rotate 180 degrees. One side of the jaws is in two parts, ie interrupted, so that possibly with a favorable constellation of the off button. There would be left out of the jaws. This only works when the off button accidentally exactly in the middle sitting on a page. When my phone it does not bring anything. I also realized that some apps allow only one option and thus turning over does not go anyway. The Galaxy Note 2 is of its dimensions, the maximum size for these glasses. There is virtually no room to the sides. EVT. it may be 1-2 mm longer, but that's about it. Breiter there may be no way, because it takes some game lodge to the device.
Through skilful application of the enclosed foam rubber glue dots, it is possible to insert the phone without it restarts the same. Unfortunately, the use remains cumbersome and often is when you insert then again touched a switch and the power turns off. The sponge rubber adhesive dots are only 1 mm high, so it often comes to touch the switch with the jaws. Unfortunately, there is no room for thicker rubber inserts (eg sealing tapes for window or similar). These are available with 2-3 mm too thick, so that the phone will no longer fit in.
I'll try with the Dremel to mill small cutouts in the jaws to fix this problem. Who has not used a narrower phone this problem!
So much for the product. Conclusion: low price and good workmanship, so good for first impressions, but in combination with a major cell phone there are problems.
Finally, a few comments on the state of the VR offers for this eyewear:
There are currently grundätzlich 3 areas of interest:
once 3D videos - these can be loaded on the memory card, or watch and listen to Youtube. Because of the mobile phone screen is divided into two parts for it, it is important that the images are side by side and not one above the other. The surfaces each eye are thus almost square. Since the films but mostly in 16: 9 are displayed, the films are highly stretched. Some movies in Youtube offer have recognized a black bars top and bottom and are therefore to be regarded without distortion. Although I was always satisfied with the normal use with the screen resolution of my cell phone, falls through the magnification of the lens forward to a noticeable pixel effect. This should possibly when choosing mobile phones. Consider. There are some apps for viewing 3D video here I have not found the optimal application.
The second application is VR-apps that can be found in Google Play Goals. There is a lot to try for a first impression of the art. But honestly, is that most of what I've seen so far still very verbesserungsbdürftig. If the virtual reality is not properly synchronized with the real movement of the head, I get dizzy after a few minutes.
The third area is for me really the most interesting, but does not work with this type glasses: the consideration of VR photos or videos (. So-called 360-degree - videos - can also be found on Youtube). The glasses always requires two images - one for the left, one for the right eye. Because of the lenses and the partition wall, a continuous image with the glasses can not look at you.
I hope the experiences are helpful for the consideration for the acquisition of VR goggles.
