As a protection against dust for my new WD My Passport external hard drive 2TB Ultra the shell is more than adequate. I would, however, have wished that the padding is much more pronounced, so that they might sometimes endures a smaller fall. I'm not sure if this is ensured. Fit for the hard drive is excellent.
