So far I had F-Secure installed. This software I have uninstalled first. It has F-Secure does not own uninstall software in the program group. I find a shame. Uninstallation via the Control Panel Win7 but went smoothly. I always recommend that you uninstall them before installing new security software. (After painful experiences with Kaspersky, that it's hard going.)
So CD into the drive and installed. There is an autorun on the CD, otherwise start the appropriate .exe.
The installation takes about 5 minutes. Here you will be asked if you want to send Internet data to Comodo behavior and crashes. I hake something basically gone. In addition, one should send its traffic through Comodo DNS and set Yahoo as the default search engine and home page. All this under the banner of security. For me incomprehensible. I do not use it thus.
After installing an initial audit and an update takes place. This took about an additional 6 minutes. Then, the computer must be restarted. The shutdown lasted nearly 20 minutes with me and was then enforced by the system. What has caused, I could not figure out. The subsequent start but worked smoothly.
The user interface is modern and tidy. The first program is started, however, has lasted for a few minutes with me. Basically everything is pre-configured to match and it is also started a very simple dashboard. Windows recognizes COMODO as security software and then also no longer complains that lacked.
The activation of the software is taken over the point Activate the bottom left was on the program interface. This can be seen but only when the software is started. That does not happen of its own accord during installation. Just like the start of the update. This must be triggered by clicking Troubleshoot in the software because this determines that it is not up to date. After the required reboot Windows, which has (so) lasted minutes with me over 20, once a message appears with a link to buy the software. (The one already has). The license key is located on the insert in the CD case and is easy to read.
Not quite so happy solved. Unfortunately, one must also elaborate register if you want to activate the license. The award of the user name is a bit unfortunate. You have certain specifications meet (length, complexity), then a green tick appears next to the name. My first choice was still not accepted, I suppose, because it already existed. Unfortunately, one does not receive a clear indication. With the e-mail address as the username it went well.
The software itself has all the necessary components (antivirus, firewall, other threats) that are also normally set automatically sense. Notes on detected threats and recommendation to the handling (quarantine, delete, etc.) are clearly visible and accessible for the layman. In addition, diverse settings, specifically in the firewall can make about the button functions. But but you should know a bit already.
There are in Dashboard continuously information about network activity. I think this is made very clear.
In addition, you can still set up a virtual desktop that acts then completely separated and protected from the actual system. This seems to me to be appropriate to consciously entering a dangerous network environments. I do not use this part.
The included additional Browser is a useful gimmick. I use also.
Conclusion: Very comprehensive security software with well-to-use features and useful set machines. Thus suitable for the absolute amateur, but also for ambitious users. Installation and registration process could be improved in the process. A bit too much advertising for Yahoo and other packages and products. This interferes with a software purchase but reasonably. The extra packages not required regular users as well. For the price of the actual package is compared to similarly extensive software at about the half.
