The comparison in the individual functions / properties:
+ Processing / quality of hardware seems to be good to very good. Reel was unfortunately broken 3 times, just like in UFS924, I do not know (yet), long-term experience inevitably missing.
+ The fan is surprisingly quiet. Turns on only when needed and is not heard in TV volume. Reel was as bad
+ The display on the front panel is very easy to read (even at 4 m distance). Reel similar.
+ PiP works very well, even with HD channels. HD did not go with Reel.
+ The fast forward / rewind funkioniert even in HD. In Reel only with bucking. Most of the other receivers can not in the HD.
+ The remote control is excellent and the best thing I've ever seen. I have long used it not, since I have placed all the buttons on my learning remote control from Philips (Prestigo). Kathrein was not pre-programmed, so that I had to do for each button. But it went so smoothly, as I know it by any other remote control.
+ Operation / ergonomics is excellent and overall the absolutely best thing I know of electronic equipment (over the years some tens). Not for nothing the UFS924 in ergonomics scored the only device 100% when comparing test in a professional journal.
Some properties without review (neither good nor bad):
UFS924 comes standard with no wireless. Can to buy one but. I did not need, because I had an Ethernet / wireless router from TP-Link (from the Reel time, there was just Reel). Router has run at all.
Slow Motion is not the UFS924. Went at Reel, but is not that important to me.
Now come the downsides:
- The inclusion of a series relates only to a selected station. If I want to z. B. record all broadcasts with "Enterprise", I have to be programmed separately for each transmitter that. Reel was a transmitter already 6 years ago (!) Cross-programming with many parameters (selection of the stations, daily timing, no repetitions, etc.).
- You can search for a free text (station across) at UFS924 though. But this search is not saved. Ie gets. If only the broadcasts displayed that are currently in the EPG and the search criteria. The program that you want to record, then you have to select manually. After at least 2 weeks you have to search laboriously typing over the keyboard. Very inconvenient and technically outdated for today. Again vastly superior Reel. Since everything happened (!).
- The network interface (Ethernet or WLAN) to the PC is a joke. The really important features that are very troublesome on the remote control (channel sorting, word search, etc.), there is not a PC! Reel could all (already 6 years ago)!
- UFS924 has some (admittedly smaller) Software error: for fast forward / rewind and then normal playback sets the tone from. 3 seconds to infinity. Can be quickly repeated change / fix normal.
The display under not quite clear constraints in quick succession the currently watched program and the recently deleted record to (Title of both broadcasts are 2 times per second displayed alternately).
After deleting a recording the entire list of records is sometimes empty! After switching off / on the receiver directory is back.
Summary:
For this price, which moves more in the premium league, the unit has too many limitations. Specifically, the network interface must be improved severe (has a test report also faulted). Software can appear at Kathrein not, because the computer must still learn a lot. Such a judgment I can certainly as Dipl.-Inform. allow.
While I can live with the Einschräkungen, but would look around more intensely for an alternative to a new purchase. If the device cheaper, there were more stars. Were it not for the above limitations, I would have been willing to pay another 100 euros more, and to award 5 stars.
