The design / processing:
The Moto X speaks to me visually very. It puts a lot of display (5.2) in small housing. Just up and down towards the housing is wider than the screen. Here the speakers are housed. The upper is responsible for telephony, the lower one for all other sounds. Thus, there is no stereo sound, as one might infer from the optics ago.
The processing leaves nothing to be desired. The back is solid built and the buttons on the side sit without wobbling.
A little disturbing, I find only that the speaker covers protrude slightly and around make a good collection point for debris.
The display
Big enough to look sometimes a video. The colors are clear and rich in contrast. Even from an oblique angle, the display is still visible.
The situation is different when the sun shines. Here one has problems ever to see anything on the screen. This is due to the low luminosity. Comparing the Moto X with other smartphone (which also have an OLED panel) is the luminosity of the Moto X pretty far down the scale.
The battery
The battery is permanently installed and thus can not be exchanged. With 2,300 mAh my expectations were not too high, and were also confirmed. If you forget the Moto X recharge at night, you have a problem the next day. In normal use the battery will last well one day.
Similar to other smartphones in this class which is not at the bottom of, but not outstanding. Average.
The Camera
13 MP main camera, 2MP front camera. The main camera does have a proper resolution but falters a bit in less than optimal lighting conditions. Then the photos are very noisy.
Otherwise, the Moto X photographed very detailed and sharp. In optimal lighting conditions to reach good to very good pictures, if they are too light, the other smartphones can significantly better.
However, the function twice to rotate the wrist to turn on the camera is very convenient.
The Performance
The Moto X is running fast and smoothly. The display is sensitive to touch very well because there is absolutely nothing to complain about.
The voice quality is also very good noises are filtered out so that the interlocutor understands me clearly.
A drawback is storage capacity. In the 16 GB version, me only 10 GB are in effect available and are easily accessible by apps, music and photos. An extension by a memory card is not possible. Very bad!
The additional functions
Moto rules: here can be four profiles set up home, meeting, driving a car and sleep. The profiles are selectively activated manually or automatically. The mode driving, for example, is automatically activated when the temperature measured by GPS speed for a pedestrian is too high. Then you can have it read out eg caller and SMS from Moto X. A very useful feature for motorists in my opinion.
Voice control: the Moto X is always in ambush position. It listens always whether the phrase that activates the voice control, it is said by the owner. This sentence is naturally pre-sets yourself. Then you can write by voice command such as a text message to let announce dates, the weather for the next day queries, googling for a term, and, and, and to take everything without the device in hand.
The voice control works pretty well. Not perfect, because you have already pay some of the stress when to pronounce the activation rate, yet the success rate is quite high. Nevertheless, the voice control is not quite Frustfrei often enough that I wanted to leave me something from Moto X announcements, and the smartphone does suddenly to Google to search for appointments announce that's not quite the sense of the thing.
I think the voice control is indeed a nice feature, but do you really need it in everyday life? Everyone needs to decide for himself, I for my part, use the voice control now practically nonexistent.
Moto Actions: are the Moto Actions activated, the Moto X reacts to hand movements. So you can, for example, with a Winkbewegung the ringing Moto X stummstalten. If the Moto X at rest on the table, you need to approach only by hand and it will give me information on the Active display such as missed calls, received messages, etc. The Moto X reacts here via infrared sensors and over are installed below the display. However, the infrared sensors are so sensitive that the display every sign when I eg even something abstelle beside the phone. Sometimes I think it's even a bit disturbing.
