The tower fans are a bit more expensive by Rowenta than the competition, but it also offers a variation and reduction mode. In Variations mode, the strength of the airflow changed permanently. The device takes into account the selected fan stage and takes this as the maximum value. In the reduction mode, the air flow will also change constantly, in addition, the device reduces the fan stage every 30 minutes. If one of these two functions is activated, so no drafts may arise. Tensions caused by drafts is avoided thereby.
The new model has been improved in contrast to the old, in my view, both, as well as deteriorating.
Improves has the power of the blower. It has a slightly larger air throughput and is even become a little quieter. However, its predecessor was, unlike many Noname devices very quiet. In addition, the housing of the Eole Crystal is less creaking noises, if you lift the fan and transported to another location. The processing quality is ansich remained the same well. None are no discernible Press seams or protruding sharp edges.
Although the processing quality has remained the same, the surface of the housing has deteriorated. You now consists of a high-gloss plastic. Such plastics scratch very quickly when cleaning (even with a microfibre cloth) - which is a pity, especially unnecessary. While the piano black finish is apparently currently in vogue, because there are very many such devices. Yet so far I could not find a supporter for this high-gloss surfaces. Since Rowenta but unfortunately currently produces no devices with other surface, I had no other choice than to purchase this device, as I did not want to do without the variation mode. Furthermore, ten shiny screws are now visible on the rear panel. In the previous model, this was not the case. This could have been solved with better example black covering caps. Also, the device no longer acts as noble and of a piece as the round predecessor. In the new VU 6520 it seems more like a device of two parts. The rear part, the technique (rotor housing) and the front forms the scheduled straight visor. In addition, the display area very bright blue diodes were installed behind clear plastic. These seem like small spotlights. Putting the fan in the sleeping area a, this can be disturbing. If the plastic has been frosted from the inside, this problem would not occur. In the previous model was the case.
Conclusion:
Aside from the case and the very bright diodes met my expectations the unit. Who wants to use the device in a bedroom and is disturbed by the bright light of the status displays, can make do with a matte tape. Nevertheless Rowenta should make improvements in the following generations of devices.
