The comparative table of the two cameras is available on the website of GoPro but to summarize:
- Both versions have the same sensor but not the same processor
- The "photos" are identical performance
- The videos are best performance Black side with ability to shoot 30 fps in 4K + + mode SuperView 120 fps in 1080i where the silver version of stops at 4K 15ips without superview and 120 fps in 720p only
- The GoPro Silver has a touchscreen.
So how do you choose?
In fact it is quite simple: I think most people do not need the Black release.
The 4K 30fps gives a beautiful but it comes with its share dinconvénients: size very large videos, heaviness in the post-processing, significant battery consumption, camera price 100 euros more expensive and even more if you like it add optional LCD screen ... Well, except buff who wants the highest quality for its semi-pro or pro videos, lusage, I am convinced that most people do not end up using more 4K resolution.
The Silver version is 100 euros cheaper, with a LCD touch screen included. Ok no Superview 4K at 30 fps, but its performance is excellent and ample for occasional extreme sports or family dad who wants to film the exploits of his children.
For my part, I have chosen the Silver Version. No complaints about the quality, the LCD screen is small but super practical. Lergonomie camera becomes much better, although some menus might be a little more optimized.
Level quality videos / photos, this is very good, even in low light. Still not perfect indoors, but like every year, a small progress noted over the previous generation.
Note well quavec GoPro is like the brand of Apple, you are good to return to the cashier for all accessories. AND it very quickly up the bill. The content of the box is ridiculous (although no USB socket).
But overall, not at all disappointed with my choice, I recommend without worry if the price does not scare you.
