Gameplay
The game is too extensive to explain the complete rules here. Those who want to learn the game in detail, which may like to see my video.
The spaceships
All spacecraft models are indeed made of plastic, but beautifully painted. In the hands of young children, however, they should not be, because the models have very delicate parts that can easily break.
Building
Each player sits down on one side of the table. There a Schedule 60 x 60 cm is marked out. For larger battles you already need then a Schedule 90 x 90 cm or more. One player takes on the rebels. In addition he takes the X-Wing and builds him on his stand. The other player takes the two TIE fighter and builds on this as well. Depending on which character would take a player who opponent must also choose certain figures, so again there is equality of opportunity. Each player then takes a Manöverrad per spaceship, his marker plate, a critical hit and a stress marker, depending on the selected character or the action markers and its pilot card. The remaining play materials (such as scale, dice, templates maneuvers, damage maps and ID markers) are laid out on the table. Upgrade cards, obstacles and mission markers you need only when you want to play a mission. The players put their spaceships on to their sidelines. The position and order is different depending on the selected mission and is explained in the manual.
Gameplay
A round always goes through four phases. If at the end of the fourth phase one player alive, it starts again with phase 1.
1. Planning Phase
Each player takes the Manöverrad for each of its ships and selects concealed an action. The action is always a movement. This may just be degree angle at 45 ° or 90. Even a turn at the end of a movement is possible. If the player chooses a movement that has a red number, solves this maneuver from stress. The player may then select any more action until he eventually chose a green action. Then he loses the stress marker again.
2. Activation phase
Starting with the spaceship that has the smallest pilot value, the following items are now processed:
a) The player now revolves around the Manöverrad.
b) The corresponding template is taken and moved the spacecraft.
c) Possibly the stress marker is placed on the spacecraft.
d) The player chooses an action for that round.
Then the next highest pilot is used. When all pilots have performed their movement, the phase comes. 3
The actions
Here's a short explanation of the actions:
a) Dodge
This action allows players to repel an attack. The action tile is paid as a successful die roll.
b) Focusing
Each diced attack or defense dice, showing one eye, can be seen as a successful attack or defense either.
The focus should only be used in the attack or the defense, not for both.
c) target acquisition
If I make a target acquisition on a spaceship, so I may roll again after a rush down throw any dice.
d) barrel roll
The player may make a Dodge roll. For this he puts on the side of his spaceship, the 1er maneuver template and draw his spaceship at the other end.
Free Actions
Depending on the selected pilot figure, there are also free actions. These may be used in addition to the normal actions when they are needed.
3. Fight
determine and measure a) target
With the scale template is checked, which spaceships are the shot angle and the correct distance.
The player must then choose which ship he wants to attack.
b) attack
Then the pilot begins with the highest pilot value the attack. He takes as many red dice as are specified on its pilot card and dice them. If the enemy spaceship in the range 1 to the scale, he may even take a red cube more.
Stars are normal results, hollowed star are critical hits, eye icons can be converted to an action and blank pages are misses.
Here the player can use his action "focusing" to rotate dice to dodge cubes.
c) Defense
For each star, whether filled or hollow, the opponent must now escape with his green cubes. The number of dice that he can use for the evasive maneuver, thereby also be on the pilot card. If the attacking spaceship in the range 3 on the scale, the player may take a green cube more. For each successful throw a dodge attack roll is canceled. First are the basic attacks, then processed the critical attacks. Here the player can use his actions "targeting" or "focus".
d) damage
Remains after the alternate throwing another attack dice left, the could not be avoided, so the attacked player either shield marker must sign or damaged cards. For normal hit he takes the front of the card loss, for critical the back. The critical hit do not have implications for the rest of the game and are in addition as a 1 normal damage. Exceed the damage the card envelope value of the ship, so it is destroyed and comes out of the game.
Then, the next pilot's turn. Always in the order of highest to lowest value pilot.
4. final phase
If both players have a spaceship left, so the action of this marker be removed. Only the target acquisition remains when it was not used.
The next round begins again with phase. 1
Full time
Once a player has no more ships, the other player has won the match.
Other rules
These games declaration indeed already includes almost all general rules, but of course there are a few more things to pay attention to.
A detailed description you will find this in the manual. Here the first three missions are described, that you can play with the basic set.
Also, there is still the possibility of a secondary armament of the ships, or the game with obstacles. Also you will find the rules in the manual.
Additional packages
For this game, some additional packages with spaceships are commercially available already. These then also new missions are shipped, or you can play a free battle. For this purpose each pilot card has command points. The stronger the ship, the more Command Points is worth. To ensure a balanced fight, the command points of both sides must be equal. Some add-on packages are for example, the Millennium Falcon, Slave-1, B-Wings, Y-Wings, or Tie-Advanced by Darth Vader.
It constantly coming new models to expand and the feel. However, the packages are not cheap and hit with 10 to 20 euros.
Small Conclusion
X-Wing is the first step in the tabletop world. The basic game has everything for grandiose space battles. The rules are relatively simple and easy to understand. The mechanics of the space combat is a round thing. The models look top and the extra missions are exciting.
A small warning
If one has the game then packed, it is sometimes very expensive. A player buys new spaceships and the other players must follow suit in order to continue play. Thus, from the beautiful basic game may be a new, expensive hobby. Those who can afford it and want, gets wonderful spaceship models. If you then still a little creative, there are endless gameplay with new missions that you can also come up with myself. Do not misunderstand that the base game is great fun and if you're happy with it, then everything stays within budget. I'm just a Warhammer Fantasy "damaged" and white as the theme Tabletop can degenerate.
