Design and manufacturing:
Visually, I find the amplifier excellent - it is small and high quality, although more Palstik is installed, as it seems. The volume control is nice and stiff so conveys a sense of quality, he is also made of metal. The other buttons and ports are exemplary processed, albeit partly made of plastic (not so let's go back for workmanship when Denon N8, this I had 2).
Even the packaging can look very sophisticated and "especially" - not the typical brown cardboard.
All in all a successful appearance, unless you expect a full-metal device.
Function:
The amplifier is designed for simple basic functions: it gives the connected sources again - point.
No radio, no WiFi, no EQ - only connections, input selector and volume.
I think that's very good, although I would like to see another Teac component: A network player with FM radio, Spotify and Airplay ... Then the world would be perfect.
The many connections were for me one of the reasons for purchase: so I can leave my MacBook via USB, the TV via optical Toslink and my CD player running on RCA and had yet another RCA and coaxial input (for example, a Sonos Connect) free. I could, for example, also Apple TV connected via Toslink and connect the TV via the headphone output to the second RCA and would still have the COAX free - I like that. Whether digital or analog - Möglichketen there are some.
The amplifier will start soon and the inputs can be carried off quickly (on the device). The Fernbediehnung this takes a little longer, because the signal is often not recognized is equal ...
Thus we have arrived at the weak point of the system: The Fernbediehnung is not worthy of the device. Not even a power button! Often must repeatedly be pressed, so that the signal arrives, and the signal detection angle is quite small. In the beginning I found it very sweet, but after 2 weeks no longer ...
A perfect Ferbediehnung here - again much better than the N8 itself ;-): Here the Denon N8 was much much better
For this I subtract a star.
Sound:
Of all the mentioned amplifiers Teac works cleanest, clearest and most sophisticated for my taste. Nevertheless, he does not sound sterile or boring, he's only just every nuance differentiated individually beautifully again. Nevertheless, he is also powerful and warm. He is also quite noisy - although my living room is not huge, but more than 1/4 I had never go.
FYI: I run the Teac on a pair of Canton GLE 430.2 WITHOUT Sub.
Conclusion:
A great little amp with lots of connection options into a compact format - something is rare! In addition, even with super sound quality - you can hear that a B & O chip is used.
The CD player is sure to find its way to me, and I hope, as I said, on a network player with many features.
Weakness is the Fernbediehnung, an accessory which is unfortunately always needed ... Here you should not have cutbacks and the amp should rather make something more expensive - it would have been better with security for all.
Nevertheless, an entirely unjustly unknown amplifier!
