Things that struck me positively:
- Large display very good
- Display swiveling
- Histogram also in video mode
- Microphone connector
- Manual exposure at videos (iris, shutter, gain)
- 25p1080 and 50p720
Things that are noticed negatively:
- Display has no sensor to switch off, when looking through the viewfinder
- The software will be on a new MAC (10.7.2) not supported! ! ! , And an update is not available for months!
Things that are otherwise still struck me:
- Wider new batteries that of the EOS 500D no longer fit
- The battery is arranged so again, the switch to the battery most tripod plates must be unscrewed (War but already with the 500D)
All information relating mainly to the differences between 500D and 600D.
Since I shoot a lot of videos, it seemed to me essentially on the video function.
The Photo function has changed compared to the 500D only slightly and the image quality I would rather than equally well to denote little better.
When shooting, I feel the bright display in dark disturbing, although now a button next to the shutter button to activate and deactivate the display is present.
! But why I can forgive only one star is because the Canon obviously thinks to stop supporting Mac users!
The software of the 500D (EOS Utility) worked without any problem on my Mac (running OS X Lion 10.7.2) When connecting the 600D was then reported that the camera is no longer supported by the old software. After installing the new software supplied, the program can no longer be started. (Message: "Can not be used with this version of the operating system!")
Thus, I can all Mac users only to Nikon, Sony, ... guess!
But ATTENTION old cameras are still as long as no update support is made only after an update EOS Utility can not be started!
Addendum (03/02/2012):

Thanks to update, the camera is to use now for several months with my MacBook.
Thus, I would rate it with 4 stars. Half a star deduction for the bad service there from me yet.
And half a star deduction for the fairly short battery life, the positioning of the battery compartment cover and the lack of proximity sensor.
PS: Thanks Magick Lantern obtained with a 600D is an excellent video camera that allows for wonderful photographs.
Of course, here the appropriate accessories (as well as in proper video and film cameras) is required.
With a focus device Matching objectives with appropriate EOS adapters and a monitor + Mattebox the EOS cameras are still a very affordable alternative to the expensive video cameras.
We turned back to the NEX-FS 100 here the last few days. The material of the 600D is not much worse in spite of approximately 4500-5000 price difference (each without optics and rig).
