Great camera with 30x zoom, and Wi-Fi and ...

I've been many years in the field of compact die-hard Sony fan. In addition to my digital SLR cameras as I "Everywhere-here-camera" always have a Compact of SONY in your pocket. First I had the SONY Cyber-shot DSC-P200 (7.2 megapixels), this compact camera has been with me for a long time and always reliable (She's still my son in use). After the SONY DSC-HX5V, which also accompanied me on all my trips long and faithful came. Now it was time for a new one. The DSC-HX5 now gets my other son.

The data of the Cybershot DSC-HX50 are quite impressive. > 20 megapixels and a 30x zoom (24-720 mm focal length, acc. To small picture) are in the field of compact z.Zt. a unique selling point. Also, the WiFi, which I have set up in the old via an adapter, which is already on board as standard, pleased me very much, because it's on the computer already is a certain comfort in the transfer of images. The accessory shoe is in cameras of this class, a rare feature and the brilliant 3 "screen enjoys the presbyopic eye. Unfortunately, costs of matching electronic viewfinder (FDA EV1MK) currently more than the camera. Therefore, I can save it. Even on the "V" in the name of the camera and the higher price I have done without, because I have to date found no relevant requirement for me to take advantage of the GPS.

The camera fits comfortably and with a pleasant weight in his hand. Operation is simple and typical SONY mostly self explanatory. I use in the compact as opposed to DSRL almost only the automatic modes, because it usually is to go fast. Because it suits me very much that the camera a whole reacted very quickly and delivers in the automatic modes acceptable images. A bit strange seemed the (as always weak) flash. But also because I got used quickly. This keeps the battery, as with its predecessors, very long time - I made with one battery charge more than 500 recordings.

For image quality: Depending on the system with such enormous zoom range to require DSLR quality of the lenses used in compact cameras. For comparison: a DSLR lens often costs already several times the entire DSC-HX50. In wide-angle images are still surprisingly sharp with really minimal blur towards the margins (up to max. ISO400). However, this deteriorates the zoom range somewhat. I find the Bildqualtät but for such a camera in any case absolutely fine and useful. Anyone who can not accept, has to go into a different camera class and there he will definitely find no 30x zoom. The digital zoom modes you should use the way under any circumstances - This is not true only for SONY, but for all cameras that offer something, because the image quality dramatically decreases digital magnification. Considering the enormous scope of the DSC HX50besteht also no real need.

The offered manual modes I will certainly try out sometime, but as I said: I use the camera often in auto mode and the hands me absolutely for the intended use. Overall, I am very satisfied. The Cybershot DSC-HX50 is a worthy successor to my old DSC-HX5. Funnily enough, I recently started using three cameras the same camera bag from Crumpler, who still looks like new and has adapted well to the different shapes and sizes, above all. :-)
