My Maxtor 500 has given up the ghost and responses of WD Elements 4TB had it done to me. Why this external plate was assessed as negative in some cases I can not understand. Who needs this value for money a backup for its WIN PC is well served by this record:

Simple, fast installation without much frills.
Plate is very quiet, does not bother, a small, bright-function LED mounted front and signaled readiness and flashes when there is activity.
The data transfer from my old USB 2.0 Maxtor in 1000 worked without problems.

I have to mention that I myself a new laptop Fujitsu AH rose before the WIN XP death 502. However, the standard has only USB 2.0 ... but an Express card slot! So buy a USB 3.0 card on the internet for 5 euros and plugged. Both USB 3.0 ports the map function properly in conjunction with the WD Elements panel, of course, full of the promise of speed increase! This 4TB hand me determined until my WIN 7 is obsolete again .....
