The hard drive is preformatted in NTFS. So, nothing to do on this. It is immediately ready for use.
No security software (encryption, password, etc ...) or else is provided.

There is therefore no adjustments or settings performed before use.

Please note, the disc is announced for 320 GB. But only 297 GB is actually available !!!

After being switched on, a small fairly unobtrusive white LED on the front of the hard disk lights steadily during the idle phases. During phases of reading or writing, the LED flashes.
For information, write speed of the disk of a 700MB video: between 26 and 30 MB / second.

The hard drive heats a little during its phases of activity (read or write), but no more or less than others. As for the noise, it is barely audible.
By against the usually very discrete vibration can be amplified on a wooden surface.
Then simply place it on any surface (cardboard, books, clothing etc ...) to address the issue.
