What is unfortunately less than optimal, the length of the chain Gliders. In my ordinary city bike with SRAM 7-speed hub gear, the distance from the rear wheel axle is 485mm to Tretlagerachse. Thus, the rear portion of the chain Gliders sits on the last snap pretty shaky. It would have been smarter to produce the front part 3cm longer. If it should turn out to be too long in the assembly, you could just cut it.
The Chainglider creates a slight frictional resistance. While pedaling you do not realize this, but is in the freewheeling clearly established.
Why the Chainglider was removed again, was the running noise unbearable!
According to the product description of the chain box is mounted "floating" on the chain. Floating sounds irritating at the site, in fact the chain locker is easy on the chain. At movement of the chain results in a RATATATATATATATA .... exactly in time with the chain links.
My bike is so loud even on completely flat paved bike path. Without this Chainguard the wheel was not so loud even over cobblestones. I have the treads of Chain Gliders checked, everything was clean and trimmed. The rear part time fixed and loose mounted, tried thin chain oil and thicker chain oil, chain hard times tense, sometimes with some play - the noise could be off in any way. Anyway, I have endured no 100km with the thing and again mounted an open chain guard. The wheel is now again need more care chain, but it's finally quiet!
Conclusion:
+ Good Chainguard
+ Good material
+ Easy installation
- Minimal friction resistance
- A bit too short
- Much too loud
Those who want to enjoy the ride on a quiet bike, is not happy with the Chainglider.
Those who place absolute priority on the protection of the chain for which the Chainglider is correct.
