On paper, I was regarding the properties the 650D initially very ambivalent.:
A DSLR with a touch screen? What a crap.
Today I have to say: the touchscreen is a useful addition, he works really very good and makes it possible to make adjustments quickly, precisely and without much fiddling.
The build quality of the 650D is how Canon usual, very good. The quasi here only plastic was built is due to the price and perfectly fine for me. Finally, the camera is not designed for professional use. All buttons are easily accessible and virtually self-explanatory. Of course, for a Canon-experienced users also the menu is not new to quickly grasp for newcomers.
Actually, a good thing is the folding screen. The caveat: the Live View mode is to make impossible quick snapshots. The camera takes about 1 second to focus. Thus, the LV mode is for me to use only when I capture landscapes and night scenes do. But then he is just fine - and then the folding screen is really good effect.
In low light, the focus of the camera is so bad sometimes and quite often located next to it. Strangely, in the 7D closed the better.
The kit lens is, as usual, quite simply processed in this price range, okay with plastic bayonet and of the imaging performance. I still have some fixed focal lengths in the closet - hereby the quality of 650D comes to their best advantage. Here's my tip: 50mm 1.4 and 85mm 1.8 - so you can create great portraits.
Imperative to complement this package is, in my view, a reasonable external flash - I have had good experiences with Metz, the expensive Canon flashes, it need not necessarily be.
A great camera with ease of use, good workmanship and slight weakness in Focus (badly) and the Live View mode.
Good 4 *
