Great keyboard with unnecessary defects

Preliminary remark: This is a long review because I feel that such an expensive product reviews extensive needs to other interested parties to ensure the best possible decision support.
For several days now I have a Mad Catz STRIKE 7. I have purchased a replacement for my old G15 and long wondered whether such an expensive keyboard is actually worth. Actually, I tended to Roccat ROC-12-900 Isku FX Multicolor who happens to be three times cheaper.
As my old G15 but had a display and I did not want to do without it and the G19 was not active now (the G19s differs only visually and is therefore out of date as well) I bought ultimately STRIKE. 7

Enough to history (have just mentioned, if someone is facing a similar decision), so we come to the keyboard.
In my personal opinion, this is the best keyboard I've ever had or was allowed to test. But this in detail:
It was delivered in a neat package and was broken down into its component parts, each of which has got its own bag. So there's nothing to complain about.
The assembly went quickly out of hand. Only about a quarter of an hour was needed. I have the standard configuration chosen because it makes no sense to me to separate the numeric keypad or the macro keys of the keyboard.
All components, except for the palm rests are with two screws are screwed together reingesteckt while the hand rests easy.
The processing of the components is very successful and stable since extends a strong metal frame under the items. Fortunately, not only among the main components, but also below the screen and all three hand rests. The four feet of the keyboard are, so they do not scratch of metal with a rubber coating the table.
By rubberized feet and the heavy weight of the keyboard is this very firmly on the table.
The hand rests are rubberised just like the main keyboard and the numbers block. Although the keyboard is not mechanically, the keys and the key stroke still feel to tidy. But that rattle the Spacebar and Backspace had not, bother me personally but not since the G15 had the same defects.
The buttons next to the touch screen are made of plastic but are very stable (what one does not see them).
In the package two additional models of WASD and arrow keys are included. Once these keys have a notch, so you can distinguish them better. The other version comes with a red rubber cover. Optically I think it would have been more appropriate in black, but that's a matter of taste. The change of keys is simple and is done using the included tool.
The cables connecting the components together and lead to the PC and wall are all reinforced with a fabric sheath. Thus, these are stable but not very elastic. In addition, the two cables can be plugged right into the screen does not just hide, but are characterized by their dark color (black / red) not flashy.
The illumination of the keyboard should include the best what you can get. It can be set each color from the RGB spectrum. So the 256 gradations per color, which leads to 16.7 million color shades and for every taste is. In addition, the brightness in 100 steps can be regulated. This is all done via an app on the touch screen and is set with bar. The light intensity is excellent so you can recognize all the characters well. Moreover, this harmonizes with the light strip on my mouse (Roccat Kone XTD EU ROC-11-810) and therefore looks like a set.
The brightness of the display is adjustable in 100 steps and the time interval between the last click on the screen and dimming can be set from one second to one hour.

All in all, the keyboard works so outstanding, but unfortunately I have to pull her a star.
My biggest complaint are the apps / widgets. On the one hand there are far too few and, secondly, they are not sufficiently thought through. For example the Media app only three buttons (Play / Pause, Next Track, Last Track). Otherwise, no ads or buttons, even though half of the screen is still available. It would not have been difficult because even display the name of the file being played and display a bar to progress where you can also coils. Another example is the quick launch app. It includes only 12 buttons on one side. Why does it not simply an arrow to other sites are on you can also place twelve functions is incomprehensible to me. Finally, there can be put not only programs but also links to websites. For twelve buttons are simply not enough. These are profile independent, so it can not be extended by the exchange of the three profiles.
It's really a pity that the very good and large display is underused. In addition, apps are missing for computer monitoring. So, for example, temperature, utilization of CPU / GPU, etc. Additional apps also can not download it, at least I have not found.
Another point is the software. This is quite clearly but insufficiently explained in the manual. So I wondered why the activated profile that I had created after restarting the computer was no longer active. Eventually, I then found out that you have to click on the tray icon. There, select the desired profile and with a right click on it you can then select another menu that this profile is to be started as well. Why there is no button for it in the program is also questionable. Unfortunately, the software provides no way the programmable buttons with links to websites to prove what in my G15 was possible. The software expects either macros or hotkeys for program start or application control, you can select from a list.
The driver and the software can be downloaded from the Internet. On the official site, a firmware update will be offered. It even says that it is the latest version, but not exactly what (it bears the name: Strike_7_Firmware_r37). So it is not clear whether the already installed firmware 1.08 out of date or not, and the instructions for update is insufficient.
Since this is all part of the price but also the keyboard unacceptable that as a buyer of a premium only has to sift through forums keyboard to get something as mundane as a version number or understand instructions for Firmware Update.

Now to the conclusion:
I do not regret the purchase because the keyboard very high quality and physically well thought out as such is (array of modifier keys, low modifier keys in addition to the arrow keys to avoid confusion, etc.). Technically software but the applications have to be improved on the display, there is currently only a fraction of the possibilities is used. But I hope that the manufacturer is working because on its website a's upcoming firmware update is already announced.
Whether what is offered justifies the price everyone must decide for themselves eventually.
