As an alternative, we are of course already heard about the Tefal Actifry. However, I have waited a long time with my order of Actifry, as me but mostly negative reviews with regard to smell, taste - have made and length of the cooking times uncertain - especially with fries. In the high price but one might at least be sure to get some good value for money.
In short, we are now proud owners of Actifry and we are thrilled completely.
I want to briefly describe my experience in terms of the negative issues in other reviews here:
Odour:
When cooking with the Actifry it smells no better or worse in the apartment, as if the food is cooked in a pan or pot.
Of course, the Actifry is not completely odorless, which is not even possible as the Actifry has air outlets. But it does not occur, the typical fat smells like commercial "full-fat fryers," but it just smells only after tasty food.
In a review it was described that the Actifry would smell even after months of use after plastic. I can neither confirm nor understand. In the directions is described that can smell it in the first few minutes of initial use for plastic and that's that. I have the Actifry therefore run 20 minutes without food. Even after that was the "foreign odor" completely gone and the food tasted absolutely delicious.
Taste:
After much deliberation, I have decided for the 2in1. Although our main focus was the deep frying, but it has me convinced, meat, fish, etc. to cook together cope with the supplement in one unit and must say convinces the Actifry 2in1 across the board.
For example, we have made creamed vegetables in the lower part - the recipe we have taken from the enclosed recipe book - and at the top of frozen cevapcici. Perfect! Everything was cooked to perfection and tasted perfectly. The cevapcici were really crispy - like grilled. Just great!
The individual Gar-rooms are designed to z. B. fat from meat can not drip into the lower container. Thus, it is also possible to combine fish and other foods without the other food tastes just like fish.
The main focus - the fries:
Explanation: The most negative french reviews are always compared to regular fried fries. In fact, the Actifry is here so do not keep up, but for me still the best fries outside the "chip shop".
Fat is nunmal the main flavor carrier. I plunge potato sticks in tens of liters of hot fat, the French get their popular taste. Here it is different. Here the fries are heated in a Gar-room with hot air. Supportive to the fries are automatically moved with a stirrer. Clearly there is here then also taste differences to fully fried French fries. But the Actifry really brings out the best from the French, without the tens of liters of hot grease.
The fries are nicely browned and crisp outside and stay relaxed inside, tender and juicy - just the way one knows and loves fries.
So you can now argue about whether the fries from the Actifry are now competitive with regular fried chips, or not. But I think that with the Actifry the best result of hot air fries is possible as it can, for example, the oven in any way.
My tip: Contrary to Recipe Recommendation, which provides that in Frozen deep-fried no more fat to be added, I give you a shot of olive oil (no more than 1 teaspoon!) From the very beginning in the Gar-room. Thus, the chips already come very close to the result of regular fried fries zoom, but we remain well below the regular grease mark and it smells still not as "Frittenbude" in the apartment.
Definitely I can not confirm - as criticized elsewhere - that the fries are only slightly crispy, or mushy. Then or not they read something must have gone wrong. Possibly too many fries added to the Gar-room? But that would be at this point is pure speculation on my part.
Preparation time:
Also, this topic was often criticized. It is true that the courts need to part a little longer. But this is also explained as in the operating instructions and the recipe book. Logical: I grab the device fully with 1.5 kg of fries and 750 g chicken nuggets, probably all still frozen, so I notice here with a slightly longer cooking time.
An example: 1.5kg fries need a good 45 minutes to be good. However, it is advisable to divide rather 1.5 kg of French in two portions á 750 g. On the one hand by the fact the preparation time is reduced to 25 minutes per Gar-operation, on the other hand better results with regard to crispiness are here achieved. Otherwise, we'll be back in the area of muddy fries.
I find that rather the Actifry bit longer may need to time when I should be all the time in the kitchen ;-)
Cleaning:
Absolutely easy - all the necessary parts can be easily removed and packed in the dishwasher. Done.
Size of Gar-rooms:
We are a two person household and for us, the Actifry is 2in1 perfect. Admittedly, we also like to eat large portions times (at least we now have, too fat saved ;-)
When a three-member family, the Actifry is likely to suffice in four Family members could then but be quickly too small. At least, if you want to have done everything right all at once in the first round.
According to the description the Actifry 2in1 should be designed for meals up to 6 people. But this is then but definitely too small.
A word about the volume:
The Actifry is active on the volume much like a running microwave. The One does not bother it, but us.
Conclusion: In no time tasty and crispy fries with less fat and no deep fryers-smell in the apartment. However, this device is too good and too expensive, this may only be used for French fries. The Actifry is a full kitchen gadget that allows me to prepare many different dishes without great effort for me.
For my part, absolute buy recommendation!
