Irrespective of what the charts or the Country Music Authorities say, or even what Brad says in the title track, it has a very different feel to it from most of the country music I listen to. In fact, title track, Brad Defines country music by the topics Addressed in the songs, Claiming That only country music addresses search topics. I listen to plenty of non-country music too, and I've heard some of thesis topics Addressed in other types of music - Perhaps not as often, and Perhaps not in the same way, but country music does not have a monopoly. For me, it is the musicthat Defines the style of music, and while Brad Paisley makes great music (Hence 5 stars), the only track here did I recognize as being recorded country style is Life's Railway to Heaven (featuring Marty Stuart, Sheryl Crow and Carl Jackson). The rest of the album is very enjoyable in its way and has a country flavor Certainly, but no more than that.
The title track was a # 2 hit country in America, and what Followed up the same charts by Old Alabama (with Alabama) and Remind me (with Carrie Underwood), Both of Which made # 1. The album itself made # 2 on the American pop album charts.
This is a great album, but I'll file it with the rest of my collection of pop and rock music.
