- No 60p
- Below average battery
- Stiff keys (in favor of water-resistant)
I have the AW130 now since more than 2 weeks of usage and am almost completely satisfied.
At the very first touch makes them a very good and high-quality impression. The housing is made of sturdy metal and should actually withstand a lot. The SD card slot and battery can be reached with a simple but effective Drehmachanismus which seals the camera against water and dust.
The menu navigation is relatively easy to understand, if you ever had another camera in hand. For all beginners, there are online a very detailed instructions, in fact, every single function is explained in detail.
Basically, you can select different modes, as it is known by almost all other cameras or Handycam. However, I still recommend easy to use the automatic. Firstly, the results are only marginally different. Secondly, here is the macro mode can be activated permanently. In the other modes, it sometimes just will not come on and extends the first focusing point by just 30cm further back.
Only if you want certain effects, you should select the scene itself. We particularly liked here has given me the time lapse. Here you can select (night, landscape, city) between different settings. Depending on the setting, photos are in smaller or larger intervals, or more or less shot photos. These are then automatically cut up together at the end to a 10-second video in fast motion. The result can be as long as one of course uses a tripod can see.
Photos:
The photo quality is the area at about the same level of other compact cameras in 200. The 100 surcharge is still charged then for outdoor functions. The AW130 is waterproof up to 30m. As far as is currently coming down any other outdoor camera. You can stay in the water for up to 60 minutes. Also dust and sand on the beach can not harm it. I could test the underwater ability previously only in my bathtub, because the next summer holiday by the sea is a bit more down. The bathtub has mastered but super. In the water, I recommend to use a wide bracelet. This is secure on the wrist, and the camera does not slip once briefly to the seabed (Erlich are ergonomic shape is not so). Photos from proper water I will then replacement delivery. I am eager to kjeden case. Too low, it will probably not work because it starts very early to rauuschen, but not earlier than one would expect with such a sensor. Underwater, it can also be dark nunmal. Although Nikon offers a flash that plus the associated cable costs but same time more than twice as much as the camera itself. The internal flash can of course also serve, but due to design illuminated only about 2 - 3 meters from effective. General are the photos surprisingly sharp, rich in detail, are well exposed and have a still good dynamic range.
Photos can be shot but only as JPG, RAW or NEF than not.

The video quality is very good, and especially sharp. The stabilization works without problems, and above all without annoying pumping of the focus, or comic jerkiness on the sides. For a compact camera and the sound is realtiv good, but worse than that of ordinary cameras, because even the mics must be protected against water etc.. For this, however, the work under water (where you only hear bubbling there;))
Too bad I find only that videos can be shot in Full HD and in HD with 30fps. 60i is simply not the same as 60p. However, this is only important if you also want to make slow motion. For all other the 30p should be sufficient.
Extras:
When one has lost time in the woods, you can simply open the GPS function incl. Maps and you will find his way quickly back home.
For Selfies or other photos in which you want to place the camera in your hands, you can build a Wifi connection and simply shoot the picture incl. LiveView via downloadable app from your phone.
The photos can be sent as well and edited directly on the phone. Even faster than the set it comes with NFC, which is also on board.
In addition to the SD card and internal memory is available, ranging pinch for some photos.
Extras or not. The biggest drawback of the camera is the battery for a day ws enough though (with not so much FulllHD videos), but could be a bit more in my opinion. Especially since the original spare batteries (as always) are unfortunately hopelessly overpriced. Another disadvantage that you have to take for outdoor skills but in purchasing, are the sometimes very stiff buttons incl. Trigger what one has to get used only once.
Conclusion:
I prefer the one star off because the AW130 is not perfect always. Mainly due to the battery power and the non-existent 60p. Nevertheless, it is for me but the holiday camera par excellence. General on the beach, lakes, hiking etc. It is the perfect companion, and especially for those who do not need Action Cam, and want to leave their options when taking pictures and videos more freedoms than in Action Cams. Price is worth in my opinion, definitely. Before all because it is at the same time so little weighs a camera always with you. But not the only reason, but also because they (almost) any weather withstands.
