The graphics is simply outstanding. The image is very sharp and runs fine liquid. The routes - 32 pieces in all - are full of details and great ideas. Here Nintendo has scored a direct hit, exactly as I had hoped!
The gameplay I like a little better than in the predecessor to the Wii. If you get there showered yet with items (like everyone should know, that is mainly in the negative sense), this is balanced pleasant in the new part. I have eg. A few times gotten a blue armor, but not nearly as often as in the predecessor. The focus this time more on driving skills and good use of drifting.
But here's a small point of criticism: The drifting with the motorcycles has changed slightly. In the Wii version, I always had the match-Bike and delighted me at the crisp Drift, who came very close attention to the point, with little break aside. This keeps different this time, the bikes are drifting me too vague, so I'm quite quickly switched to the karts. Fortunately govern these very similar to the 3DS, so I was well clear, after some habituation.
The preparation of the old routes had me quite important point, because I always got nostalgic feelings even with the Wii and 3DS. And one thing first: I am not unhappy. However, the routes are changed this time, some easy, some more. So I realized some routes not really back, for example, the new version of the N64 Rainbow path that yes thereby distinguished, that one was pretty quiet employs just over 5 minutes was divided into three sections that you have all therefore reduced by one third , Only conditionally I recognize as the N64 version again. But because the drive there still fun, I see it as a good route, just not with this beautiful nostalgic feeling. But all in all I am satisfied with the retro lines, both with the selection (finally receives a Royal Bridge and Yoshi's maze of the N64), as well as the implementation.
Negative to mention is certainly the battle mode, with the well-known mistake to let these deliver on the normal routes. Power for less than one probably. eight players really little sense, but that you have to live. I have even been the race has always been important, so I give no penalty.
Very nice, I think that you can go to the Grand Prix second again, this mode had yet very lacking on the Wii. That is split vertically in two-player mode the screen, I can get over. Despite being accustomed to the horizontal split, but I think that here you get used to it.
The online mode works pretty well in my eyes. Although I have always had problems that I should be cast out of the game due to any data transmission problems, but the race that I could play, made a lot of fun. Again, everything is a little more relaxed than on the Wii where you were online but very strong zugebombt with items. Also, the rating is somewhat understandable (on the Wii I got some for the 2nd place 10 points deduction and written 3 points good for 6th place). I hope that the server still import and the connection is secure, but fundamentally I am also fully satisfied.
Conclusion:
Anyone who has played Mario Kart earlier, hardly have problems with this part. It feels familiar, but with small changes (most for the better). The routes are designed incredibly beautiful, the gameplay is fluid and it just makes a lot of fun. In my opinion, a must-have title for the Wii U, or a reason to buy, if you do not already own.
