Undeniably RK is one of the greatest artists in Schlagerpop area. Likewise undisputed title like "loving you", "Santa Maria" or "Love me one last time" classics of German pop scene in which I am glad they have now collected on a CD RK.
I do not regret buying the CD.
BUT:
The record company advertises on the cover (!) Of the CD so that the songs "newly produced 2010" are. And that's a lie, at least if you're like me understands completely re-done "produced new" below, including newly sung. This is a remix album, and then only for the most part, not entirely, but a newly produced Best of album, it is not, at least not new produced 2010.
You can hear the voice of RK that the recordings do not originate from the year 2010. Maybe they originate in one or another case from 2004, when it already at that time really new best of album produced by RK was, as I have seen and heard. At times there are after my hearing but also recordings from the 80s.
Would be ok, if you did not advertise with new productions.
Some versions are very well done, no question. "Loving you" for example is very crazy Therefore, "Love me one last time" is nice otherwise mixed (with other text and therefore rare), but produces 2010 are not all. "Loving you" When I hear remix of spontaneously not even in the arrangement a difference to the real new entry of 2004. Maybe there now and new to a small effect, but the basic arrangement of the of 2004.
The live versions of "skin to skin" and "Joana" on CD 1 are never ever live recordings from the year 2010. There are great live recordings, no question, but from 2010 or 2009 are not, in my opinion.
CD 2 comes up with a few recent titles that were also partly not new produced incidentally. Is okay, is also so indicated on the back, but the cover promises something different.
Again sounds of one or the other as the remix versions from 2004, at least on first hearing.
A minor annoyance is the Partymix of "Joana". Since one has yet actually the live version (whenever incurred) of CD 1 taken and a new Bass placed underneath. Why no studio version? And then you take on the chorus, although the line "You horny pig" from the party version of Ballermann, but not the other line, "You bitch," etc.? Inconsistent, half-baked.
The "duet" with Lena Valaitis is very nicely done, the two voices harmonize very well in this very beautiful song. Ultimately, one has but taken the 2008 recording of RK, and in some parts RK replaced by Lena Valaitis. New sung has not RK also this song for the CD.
Probably for legal reasons publisher / label disputes missing many important hits. Where are eg "Midnight Lady", "Every night has your eyes", "wind on the skin and Lisa", "women", etc?
Conclusion:
Great artists, great songs, largely beautiful compilation, mostly beautiful remixes, but no new productions as advertised - including quite a cheating by the record company.
"Remix 2010" one might write on the cover, which would likely agree.
Regardless of the CD, I wish all the best and RK hope he soon again gives us so a blast album like "We are longing" from 2008. Because the record company did a great job!
