The router firmware is currently still maintained and so the router is constantly expanding to new UMTS sticks. So it pays to regularly stop by on the manufacturing side, especially during the initial commissioning is this a must.
After my own experience I can confirm a certain incompatibility with various UMTS extensions. But I have had very good experience with the manufacturer's own extension (TP-Link USB Cradle (USB port)).
The negative experiences with the support I can not confirm from my own experience. Both the telephone, as well as the e-mail request was answered promptly and competently and also led to the problem solution.
To prevent the product frustration out here a few tips from my personal experience.
Before buying:
- Check the manufacturer's website whether the existing UMTS stick is supported
Initial start-up:
- Download the latest firmware and import
- Connect Stick on PC, PIN request disable (Stick Software)
- Connect Stick on PC, dial-up method preferred UMTS, GPRS Setting (Stick Software)
- On the PC from the embroidery software read and write the login information of mobile operator
- Fully configure router before the stick is plugged in for the first time (very important with active PIN)
- Do not use extension, or only the TP-Link (see link above)
in use:
- Recommended monthly flat rate - can be easily passed through> Router
- Daily flat rate - to avoid> to unwanted costs pull to use Stick
- Volumentarif / single billing per MB -> not recommended, keyword: Windows updates, antivirus updates, etc.
Addendum (06/03/2013):
My review is from the hardware version of the TL-MR3420 1, I do not know how the hardware has changed. The firmware seems mitlerweile to be developed only sporadically. The latest version, the hardware version 1, is from 23.11.2012. So what he did not now, it will probably not get (compatibility list).
