One question that has been put to me when buying this laptop is that the 4GB version of GTX860M nor the Kepler architecture or even Maxwell. In notebook tests on the internet you can find most of specifying that only the 2GB version Maxwell is already and the 4GB card still Kepler.
I have now reviewed and the 4GB card is already the Maxwell architecture. Without being technically: the Maxwell-card offers in about 10% more power than those with Kepler. Basically the GTX860M can anyway rarely explore its 4GB of VRAM, up to date game enough the 2GB variant actually more than made. Exceptions are mod-heavy games like Skyrim, where a 4GB can come to good.
Basically, the notebook: the processing shows in my model no weaknesses, the aluminum housing is just as stylish as the rubberized hand rests (disadvantage: fingerprints are quickly visible on all surfaces). The quite often criticized keyboard Personally I like good in appearance and feel, the key resistance is very pleasant. It seems that I've caught a / the better display of AUO (?), Had this not been tested but. The brightness far as I could up regulate any case, I had the feeling of sitting in front of a face solarium. A glare display is not for everyone and also the improved display, which is installed in this notebook can not keep up with the best displays on the market. This has a negative effect on color fidelity and point of view, whereby the former can be the total image quality improve something, where you herumprobiert using the supplied software with the Lenovo Settings Video settings (such as picture or video presets). The built-in JBL speakers are the best I've heard on factory-installed sound systems for a long time.
DC continues on software: the notebook is not very cluttered (because I've already seen worse), but there is a good amount of bloatware on. To keep the only program, which this seemed really helpful and I would recommend that Lenovo is addressed Settings. This provides functionality that is otherwise difficult not to find. In addition, the Pokki Start menu found on the Lenovo notebooks with Win8, my business, it is not and I will probably get myself Classic Shell.
The weaknesses that I noticed so far: the touchpad has a click functionality, which is the reason why it's probably a bit "loose" and feels a bit klackert. In addition, default scrolling does not work with me, but in the Control Panel mouse itself - let 2Finger resolve gestures by ticking off and again the corresponding function. Driver had nothing to do so you have to come to the simplest solution also first. Furthermore, have the Lenovo notebooks Y50-70 still the problem with the fan at rest or without load. While this captures very quiet but audible every second on to produce a kind of short, grinding noise. I do not mind further and if you normally work with the laptop or surfing, it's quiet as a mouse. However, one should stay close to the router, the wireless network is like the display for this price range badly (he).
Lenovo's product policy: Support Experience has shown modest, the notebook also has a whitelist, you have to be very careful, then, which parts you want to swap. Furthermore, not every Y50-70 as the other, in the support area on the Lenovo page you will find a long list of different parts, which are installed here. This results, for example. The differences in display, RAM, hard disk ... whether this is better or worse than other manufacturers, I can not judge at this point.
EDIT: I have now taken a first test in Games mode. Planetary annihilation by setting "On" are not an issue for this notebook. Even the stepless zoom from star system to the individual unit is completely smooth, even if moving more 100 units on the battlefield. This notebook designed merely a moderate noise level, I think.
Hitman Absolution is on highest settings in FullHD not playable, here you have to make significant compromises especially when antialiasing. At the highest settings GTX860M creates here +/- 18fps, but one halved antialiasing options, +/- 40fps are possible. Here you have to wonder if you want to pay the significant premium for a stronger GTX-M card.
Battlefield 4 runs without any problems on standard high settings, but again much depends on the anti-aliasing. Higher settings make the framerate break decently, which is virtually unplayable BF4, one would not be discriminated against on the measure.
McAfee I replaced with Kaspersky, McAfee makes as expected one or the other Macke when uninstalling. In another useful setting in Lenovo Settings let me point here: the maintenance mode, it maintains the battery at a constant 60-70% charge level and thus increases the lifetime of the battery.
Also now checked: in my notebook the better AUO panel is installed. I am basically very happy with it because I did not place too high expectations here. However, I must also say that I now "figurative" (haha, pun) can imagine how the Chimei Panel must look - my condolences, love Mitkäufer. Even my display in the lower left quarter black "show through".
Another useful detail how I think and what make me otherwise very annoying: of course can also be found on this notebook enough stickers that confirm once more that really is it, what sticks on it and what I previously knew otherwise I would have the notebook not purchased. All stickers could be easily removed without annoying residues. The rubberized palm rests I already feared the worst.
EDIT 2: An important note I want to give still here - the BIOS or boot menu one can not at this notebook through the usual function keys, but only on the so-called "Novo-button" next to the Start button. For me it only works if the computer is using "Novo button" boots up, ie start normally, and then press the "Novo" key does not help!
The wireless ... honestly I have to say here, the decision to build in this veritable crutch of Qualcomm Atheros, adjoins an impertinence. In this price range, and these days it is no longer appropriate to build in a network adapter that simply can not connect to 5GHz networks (the adapter finds just do not). Who is technically fit enough and want better performance, since the adapter generally provides only average connectivity, should grab here to Intel, or to set a USB adapter. To be fair: this notebook is not the only one with this problem by far.

CONCLUSION: the Lenovo Y50-70 with Core i7-4710HQ and 512GB SSD you get a powerful and visually sophisticated notebook to a more than fair price. In particular, the dimensions (flat and relatively easy) and optics (brushed aluminum casing) normally looks in vain for notebooks of this performance class. Here, this notebook is a strong trade-off between "Workstation" and "Gaming Machine" - thanks to the SSD very fast and while working almost inaudible, but enough power for the latest games on the market, if you do not necessarily reflect the Ultra detail settings with x-fold antialiasing needs. Of course, this power has the disadvantage that the battery life can not keep up with pure "workstations". Of course, also has this laptop one or the other small Macke (see above), but the biggest drawback is due to the product policy of Lenovo, which means that this notebook is built from a "pool" of individual parts and therefore not every Y50-70 are alike - the heaviest impact is to be found because the display (ChiMei vs. AUO - the former is an impertinence, zweiteres medium quality). The weak Chimei Panel and the equally weak wireless adapter lead in my opinion to the withdrawal of at least one star, 3.5 stars would meet - since but makes Lenovo Notebook with this otherwise very much really, I give good 4 star for a very fair price / performance ratio and you get here plenty of pretty packed computing power that is sufficient for everything the average inclined gamer would do well to work tasks.
