Hands All Over (Deluxe Edition) (Audio CD)

Customer Review

I hereby would like to write a review on the new album from Maroon 5, entitled "Hands All Over". It has long been my favorite rock band and I have been following her career since its beginnings as Kara's Flowers. Now comes (if you count this time) the already fourth studio album by the group out and I'll now play little by little my opinion on the individual titles. The album was produced by the way of John "Mutt" Lange, who has already collaborated with the likes of AC / DC or Bryan Adams.

1) Misery (8/10)

Misery is the first single and also a good start to the album. It sounds quite loose and funky. The chorus goes relatively quickly in his ear, and the special of the song (as in many Maroon 5 songs) is that it actually has 2 chorus elements. The "I am in Misery (...) - Passage, and the second place with" Girl, you really got me bad (...) "Good choice as first single.!

2.) Give a Little More (7.5 / 10)

The second single is the style of the band again a little wrong. The song itself is seen to be not so bad, is likely but can not build on the success of Misery. The guitar intro to Begin, however, turned out very short and disappointing when one considers the comparatively live performances of "Give a Little More" against it. There is a lot longer and played slightly differently. Therefore, 'live' listen unconditionally and the album version prefer!

3.) Stutter (9.5 / 10)

The first real highlight of the album. Stutter has everything you need for a good song. It sounds very rock, but also has a catchy chorus. The Bridge is designed very interesting. Also in this song applies again the example of the "Chorus 2 elements" ('I really need to know' (...), and 'Your just a fantasy girl (...)'). Live played the song a corner comes the way again over better.

4.) Do not Know Nothing (7/10)

The fourth song on the CD already needs more "Einhörungszeit". It has only one chorus-section, ansonseten ripples the song a little to himself. A solid song, but not a highlight of the album. The song sounds like the end of slow, but I would have still wished some great guitar solos there, the end of the song is instead repeated only boring and slowly fade.

5.) Never Gonna Leave This Bed (5/10)

The first song that somewhat resembles a ballad, but it is seen instrumental not completely calm, is probably a bit to dream and invite reflection. It will surely find many fans, myself could not yet entirely convincing. Presumably it will be the third single from the album.

6.) I Can not Lie (7/10)

This song seems to start very relaxing and laid back, then it will be increasingly happy and you just get a good mood when you listen to it! A real blast, it is thus not become. In a way it is for me the second Sunday Morning, just the small solos in the middle of the song reminds me of the similar passage in Sunday Morning. Toward the end of the chorus, however, to repeat often and so has not so much variety.

7.) Hands All Over (10/10)

The same song as the album title. Wow! This is a real highlight, for me the best titles of the entire album! It differs stylistically from the other songs of the album, it is a real rock Pops and Live is this song certainly pack a punch right! I would have many more such songs liked so the whole album would have gone forth in this direction from the style on the album. This song underline Maroon 5 definitely their status as rock band, please ensure that more of it in the future!

8.) How (6.5 / 10)

After the very exciting "Hands All Over", a rather relaxing song now comes, very good to breathe really. It resembles something of a ballad and it is somewhat reminiscent of a song of the 80s. Therefore, the sounds seem somehow familiar and you think this song in any other way to have heard that before. Average.

9) Get Back in My Life (8/10)

For me, difficult to describe this song. It is an up-tempo song with interesting vocal bodies of Adam Levine. Instrumental seen this song remains fairly "the same" during the entire term. However, the chorus is not bad. The song sounds like a little experiment of Maroon 5 because you have not yet heard anything from them. I like it quite well, however, and therefore is one of the best on the album.

10) Just a Feeling (3/10)

The first real, slow ballad on the album. Personally, I must confess that I can rarely do anything with slow ballads of Maroon 5, so never liked "She Will Be Loved" and "Will not Go Home Without You" really. The same now applies to this song. Compared to the other two this fall here but a little, for me it is the first low point of the album. Even the chorus consists of only one element and is repeated too often .. Will certainly one or the other very much, unfortunately, not for me!

11.) Runaway (8.5 / 10)

This rock song also recalls an old song which you may have heard before, but I really like! Had a beautiful last song may be on the album, the chorus breaks a fairly with and the whole song is the mood here not as loose-flaky like many other Maroon5 songs. Listen Anyway, one of the best!

12) Out of Goodbyes (with Lady Antebellum) (2/10)

That (on the Standard Edition) last song of the album is another low point. It seems easy to soporific and inconsequential. So a song rather serves as an album filler, uncreative and uninspired and has too often been there in my opinion. You can relax here and dream a little, but it does not offer any highlights or surprises. (Lady Antebellum is the way a country band from the United States which have collaborated here with Maroon 5, an experiment which is not entirely successful.)

13) Last Chance (9/10)

Now come the "bonus songs", which I had taken in person firmly on the album and it banished the two low points of the album! Last Chance is a cool rocking song with interesting lyrics and a great chorus! A rather depressing song that of a desperate lover who is his "last chance" fights his love regain.

14) No Curtain Call (9/10)

Toward the end, this album takes again right and drive on a further highlight of the day as the last 'real' new 'song of the album. It provides the perfect finish (much better than the trivial "Out of Goodbyes"). It's a song with very dark overtones, the mood here seems very dramatic and not so happy and upbeat, as with most other songs. I would have liked more songs desired also here in the style of this as with Hands All Over, the band shows here that she can and has far more than just the singles to be released!

15 - 18) bonus songs

At the end of the album then offer 3 acoustic songs and a live recording of "If I Is not Got You". Whereas I can not do much with the latter, is an unconditional out tip "Misery" in acoustic version. In this version, which sounds very much sadder than the original, even the meaning of the text is a better fit to the music.

The last highlight of the album is certainly the queen cover of "Crazy Little Thing Called Love". From Arrangement ago there is the original and very close is well established, by singing her it will probably deter some, especially when compared directly with the original. After all, Adam Levine does not try to imitate Freddie Mercury, but can incorporate his own vocal style here. I think not that Adam Levine wants to be here "better" than the original, but just want to express his admiration for Queen and Freddie Mercury.

Conclusion:

A good album of Maroon 5 with each fan can be satisfied. While it has a few hangover, however, here again 3-4 real highlights on the album justify the purchase. For the next album I would like to see a mix of "The Fourth World" and "Songs About Jane". That said, I very much hope that there will be a further, fifth album and the band not previously separate ways going!
