The X-Rite 1Display Pro has replaced Spyer Elite 3 in my case. In practical compact box the device, including software CD supplied. After installing the software, the hardware is connected via USB port and is ready for operation.
Pleasantly noticeable that the counterweight on the cable can be moved without any major problems. This allows the X-Rite on different sized monitors reliably attached, or be placed. To measure the ambient light ironing is simply twisted and placed the device on the table.
You to calibrate either a quasi "Basic" mode, and a "Advanced mode" is available, which allows a variety of settings and adjustments.
Especially nice is striking that the X-Rite i1Display Pro immensely quickly works himself when first calibrating the monitor and the whole calibration procedure in standard mode is done within three minutes.
About sample images, including color or gray-wedges the results can be assessed and controlled.
Strange that with my two monitors calibration in one case (the younger model) has been done in three minutes, the second monitor has almost used forty-five minutes, because for incomprehensible reasons, the truly "gruesome" result, the result of Calibration was.
The monitor had after calibration terms color representation such yellowness that even a nearly blind man would have realized that these colors can not be "neutral".
Why this was the case, I can not say the best intentions. Whether it was on the monitor - whereas the situation is the fact that ultimately the calibration has still worked - or at X-Rite, or software ... I put the event times to the X-Files.
The lighting conditions were identical for both monitors, it can therefore not have been lying.
The calibration result can be furthermore stored in a history and therefore the terms of color reproduction to be checked "development" of the monitor.
What is a little annoying, however: The "Help" function, the statement that was filed with the various settings, is entirely in French. Although my school French is just enough to understand the meaning of the function on the whole, in some settings needs it but then the French dictionary. Because the software runs completely otherwise in German, I suppose, that one simply has forgotten, the "Help" to translate. Should not happen, especially since no manual included in printed form, which you might reveal details yet.
Elsewhere it has been reported by a user, that constant and neutral lighting in the room is a prerequisite that you can perform a calibration successfully. Maybe this reviewer has only one display device and had the same problem as me. On my second monitor
If the calibration does not work so perfectly in my newer monitor, I would have demonized the i1Display Pro due to the problems with the calibration of the second monitor.
Without to sit closer deals with the color management, no one will probably define a calibration device. Certain basic skills are beneficial and in my opinion also required if you want to achieve a real benefit and reproducible results.
Pleasantly surprised I am by the ease of use, the production quality, the performance of the software as well as the extremely fast calibration (if it works because at the first attempt). Thus, a recalibration is in the evening when working in artificial light, nothing in the way. (In general, however, it is recommended that a Monitokalibrierung only be made if the screen is at least been on for 30 minutes because he has reached "operating" and his currently-final color.)
Annoying the problem when calibrating the second monitor (This should normally work without problems and has in this monitor model with the Spyder 3 Elite Pro works perfectly before.) And the "French help".
Therefore, in total "only" four stars, although the device would have earned five stars. Since I am terms color calibration but to count already on the more experienced users, and must be a quick and reliable color calibration and I do not have the time to spend 45 minutes before processing an order for the process, there's a star deduction.
Supplement 24.10.2011:
After me, a user named "Bazi" has (see comments) pointed out that there is already a software update and here is the Germanized "Help", I immediately loaded me selbiges times down and installed (again at this point a thank you to Bazi!).
The Help is now actually in German and also tried recalibration of the "old" Monitor works now right away. In the meantime I looked at informal videos on the manufacturer's website, or an instruction video, the download link you get after registration (which runs uncomplicated) downloaded.
After I mentioned problems after the software update hopefully permanently consigned to the past, ie software is now completely in German language and on the homepage of X-Rite lot is placed on learning materials available, there's now from me the full five stars.
